Job Description

Position Description: *This position will report to the EMBERPOINT™ Vice President of Wildfire Systems Operations and will be a new hire, full-time position to EMBERPOINT™, LLC.*
As an aerospace and aviation entity, the development of an Aviation Safety Management Systems (SMS) is integral in adherence to Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) – Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), ICAO Annex 19, 49 U.S. Code § 40102(a) (41) and 40125. The Systems Safety Director will lead all aviation and ground safety activities for EMBERPOINT™ and is responsible for the development and maintenance of safety policy, regulatory compliance, operating procedures, predictive aviation hazard modeling, establishing relationships with federal, state, and local government first responder department/agencies, and providing safety quality assurance. This role requires examining:
• Emerging research for the integration of crewed- and uncrewed aerial resources
• Federal, State, and Local Government regulations
• Integration of systems with wildfire and utility ground resources and command and control
• Interface in collaboration with EMBERPOINT™ operations, engineering, business development, and executive leadership
Additionally, this position requires developing a comprehensive EMBERPOINT™ SMS based on federal, state, and local government requirements. This position is responsible in developing an Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and will respond to any National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) inquiries, accidents, or incidents involving EMBERPOINT™ systems. This position will represent EMBERPOINT™ at industry trade shows, conferences, think tanks, and other required outlets, serving as a key ambassador for the organization.
Required Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Safety, Human Factors, or related field. Master’s degree is desired
• Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial or Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating
• FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)
• Five years experience as an aviation safety professional in a first responder organization
• NTSB Party Representative on a Level 3 NTSB investigation or higher
• Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills with ability to build and maintain partnerships at all organizational levels
• Experience working in federal, state, or local government. Fire agency experience is highly desired
• Superior verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and public speaking abilities
• Proven ability to represent organizations at industry events, conferences, and trade shows
• Strong collaboration skills with ability to work effectively across functional teams, particularly with federal, state, and local government
• Critical thinker with ability to align operations, business, and engineering activities within an SMS program
• Ability to travel on short notice, as required
