This role plays a key part in supporting patients by resolving billing inquiries, explaining account balances, and helping them navigate payment options with clarity and empathy. You will work in a healthcare billing environment where accuracy, professionalism, and compassionate communication are essential to ensuring a positive patient experience. The position involves direct interaction with patients to discuss payment arrangements, charity assistance programs, and account resolution options. You will also collaborate with internal teams to correct billing issues, process adjustments, and ensure timely account updates. This is a detail-oriented, service-driven role that requires strong communication skills, problem-solving ability, and the capacity to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. - Respond to patient billing inquiries and resolve account-related issues in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
- Post payments, adjustments, and other financial transactions accurately within billing systems.
- Work directly with patients to establish payment arrangements and explain available financial assistance or charity programs.
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies involving patients and third-party payers.
- Communicate account issues, workflow challenges, or escalations to management as needed.
- Rebill accounts and correct billing records to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies.
- Screen and identify eligibility for financial assistance programs, including Medicare-related charity guidelines.
- Maintain clear, professional communication with patients at all times while providing courteous support.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure account balances are resolved efficiently and accurately.
- Ensure compliance with applicable billing procedures, collection policies, and regulatory standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1+ year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- 1+ year of customer service experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a professional and empathetic approach.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial discussions with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
- Basic knowledge of medical billing terminology and concepts preferred.
- Familiarity with insurance billing processes, payer systems, and collection procedures is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced office environment with frequent interruptions.
- Proficiency in basic computer systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
