About the Role:
The Gatehouse Attendant plays a critical role in maintaining the security and smooth operation of retail trade facilities by managing access points and monitoring Customer, Contractor and Vendor entry. This position ensures that only authorized personnel and visitors enter the premises, thereby safeguarding company assets and personnel. The Gatehouse Attendant serves as the first point of contact for visitors, providing a professional and welcoming presence while enforcing security protocols. They are responsible for accurately logging entries and exits, conducting load checks, and responding promptly to any Consumer, Contractor and Vendor concerns. Ultimately, this role supports a safe and efficient environment that enables retail operations to function without disruption.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of security procedures and protocols.
- Ability to operate security equipment such as surveillance cameras and communication devices.
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a security or gatehouse attendant role, preferably within the retail lumber industry.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and control access to the retail facility by verifying identification and authorization of employees, visitors, and delivery personnel.
- Maintain detailed logs of all entries and exits, including visitor sign-in and sign-out records.
- Conduct routine inspections of the gatehouse area and surrounding premises to identify and report any security issues or hazards.
- Communicate effectively with security teams, management, and emergency responders as needed to address incidents or suspicious activities.
- Provide courteous assistance and information to visitors while enforcing company policies and security procedures.
Skills:
The Gatehouse Attendant utilizes strong observational skills daily to monitor and assess the flow of people entering and exiting the facility, ensuring compliance with security protocols. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with Consumers, Contractors and Vendors, providing clear instructions and assistance as needed. Additionally, problem-solving skills are employed to respond promptly and appropriately to any incidents or emergencies, maintaining a safe environment for all.
