Overview:

The Director of Business Technology & Optimization leads the evaluation, implementation, standardization, and continuous improvement of the company's business systems, operational processes, and technology infrastructure. This role partners with leadership to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, improved visibility, stronger data integrity, and scalable operational growth across the organization.

The Director serves as a strategic resource for process improvement, business technology adoption, workflow optimization, and operational governance while helping ensure employees have the systems, tools, and support necessary to execute effectively.

Responsibilities:

Process Optimization

Supports organizational efficiency through process evaluation, workflow development, system optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Partner with department leaders to evaluate current workflows, identify inefficiencies, and develop scalable solutions
  • Document and map operational workflows to support automation, integration, and standardization initiatives
  • Develop, maintain, and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs), process documentation, and operational guidelines
  • Coordinate data integrity initiatives, including record standardization, system maintenance, integration support, and archival processes
  • Evaluate, research, and recommend technology solutions that improve operational effectiveness and support company objectives
  • Support company-wide operational alignment through standardized systems, workflows, governance standards, and adoption initiatives
  • Assist leadership with identifying opportunities for data-driven operational improvements and process optimization
  • Develop and maintain scalable operational processes across office and field environments

Business Systems, Reporting & Technology Management

Supports organizational performance through effective management of business systems, reporting tools, and operational technology platforms.

  • Build, maintain, and improve operational dashboards and reporting tools to support business visibility and KPI tracking
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership regarding operational performance, system effectiveness, technology initiatives, and process improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to improve operational reporting consistency and data visibility across departments
  • Configure and maintain workflows, automations, permissions, and data structures within company software platforms
  • Ensure seamless integration and consistency across business systems to support accurate reporting and informed decision-making
  • Manage relationships with software vendors, implementation partners, consultants, and external technical resources
  • Monitor software utilization and recommend opportunities to improve efficiency and optimize software investments

Training, Change Management & User Adoption

Supports successful implementation and long-term adoption of operational processes and technology solutions throughout the organization.

  • Develop and deliver training programs, workshops, and support resources related to business systems and operational processes
  • Facilitate user adoption initiatives through communication, training, coaching, and change management practices
  • Coordinate system testing, rollout planning, user feedback collection, issue resolution, and continuous improvement activities
  • Build and maintain a centralized repository of operational documentation, training materials, and process resources
  • Serve as the primary internal resource and escalation point for operational systems, workflow automation, and business technology support

Operational Governance & Organizational Scalability

Supports long-term organizational growth through governance standards, operational consistency, and strategic process development.

  • Establish and maintain governance standards for business systems, workflows, reporting structures, and operational documentation
  • Promote standardization of approved systems, processes, and operational best practices across departments
  • Support leadership in evaluating future operational needs and technology initiatives that align with business objectives
  • Assist with strategic planning efforts related to operational effectiveness, technology utilization, and organizational scalability
Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business, Construction Management, Operations, Information Systems, Project Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in business systems management, operational technology, process optimization, construction operations, product ownership, or implementation leadership, or a related discipline.
  • Experience within commercial construction, general contracting, development, engineering, industrial, or operational environments strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction operations, project execution workflows, business systems management, and operational process management.
  • Experience with construction management platforms such as RedTeam, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM360, Viewpoint, Sage, or similar systems.
  • Experience partnering with software vendors, consultants, developers, implementation partners, or technical resources.
  • Ability to translate business and operational needs into scalable workflows, systems, and process improvements.
  • Experience with operational reporting, KPI dashboards, workflow automation, implementation projects, system implementations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with workflow mapping, SOP development, implementation planning, operational governance, and change management practices.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Regular use of a computer, including typing and viewing digital plans and documents
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move about construction sites as needed
  • Occasional lifting or carrying of materials such as documents, binders, or small equipment (up to 25 lbs)
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when on job sites
