Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Lead Medical Assistant is responsible for clinical workflow within the assigned health center and to provide general medical assistant care to the patients. Will need to travel to multi-site locations and must be able to work independently to provide safe, accurate, and competent care to patients.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
- Oversee and assist to maintain efficient patient flow daily
- Works with Center Manager at site to ensure efficient care of patients
- Maintain all emergency equipment at site in all clinical departments
- Maintain all accreditation (AAAHC) requirements for the site
- Monitor equipment on-site and place appropriate tickets for maintenance as needed
- Travels to other sites as directed to work, and/or to evaluate, assess, and support clinical operations
- Monitor and order Vaccine for Children (VFC) vaccines at site
- Order supplies at site in clinical departments as needed
- Monitor desktops and clinical lead drive daily in the event a clinical lead/manager is not on site
- Round on all units multiple times per day and observe and assist patient flow
- Be a TEAM leader at the site, who can answer or find the answer to any daily issues
- Adhere to Universal Precautions at all times
- Be the liaison for Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in the clinical aspect at site
- Serve as a role model for support staff through professionalism and teamwork
- Respond to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures and protocols within the scope of nursing practice
- Communicate with the Director of Nursing regarding any staffing issues that need to be addressed
- Relay information and educate staff as needed
- Other responsibilities as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Medical Assistant Certification
- Current CPR certification
- Previous lead or supervisory experience desired
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Understand and strive to maintain teamwork
- Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare teams
- Ability to work under pressure
- Computer competency
- Ability to work well with others
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual a plus (English / Spanish)
- Up-to-date immunizations
- Background check
DRIVING BETWEEN LOCATIONS:
Employees who are required to drive their own vehicle on True Health business will be required to show proof of the following documentation prior to the first day of employment or before driving to other sites for work related purpose
- Valid Driver’s License
- Proof of car insurance
RELATIONSHIP REPORTING
- Reports to the Regional Director of Nursing
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand, walk or view computer screen for extended periods of time
- Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel
- Ability to reach with hands or arms
- Ability to perform repetitive hand or wrist motions for extended periods of time
- Ability to effectively talk and listen to patients and co-workers
