Job Summary:
This position reports to the Business Unit Leader and provides strategic field leadership and operational oversight for multiple specialty foundation and geotechnical construction projects nationwide. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and client expectations while mentoring and developing Superintendents and other field leaders.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee field operations across multiple construction projects. Manage job site superintendents, foremen, and field personnel to ensure work progresses according to schedule, budget, and specifications.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, Foremen, and field personnel while fostering employee development and succession planning.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, project specifications, and client requirements.
- Monitor project performance, productivity, manpower utilization, equipment deployment, and production goals across multiple active projects.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Operations leadership to develop project execution strategies, staffing plans, and resource allocation.
- Actively identify and address any construction-related issues that may arise during the project, providing timely and effective solutions to keep the project on track.
- Review project schedules and production goals to ensure milestones are achieved while maintaining quality standards.
- Coordinate equipment utilization and workforce planning to maximize operational efficiency.
- Support quality control initiatives and ensure compliance with project-specific quality requirements.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor project progress, provide technical guidance, and ensure consistent execution of company standards.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement through training, coaching, and sharing best practices.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients by providing regular project updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring their satisfaction with the work performed.
- Partner with Project Management to resolve technical, operational, and client-related issues.
- Participate in project planning meetings, progress meetings, and operational reviews.
- Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and development of field leadership personnel.
- Assist with project startup, execution, and closeout activities as required.
- Ensure company equipment and resources are properly utilized and maintained.
- Capacity to handle and respond to emergencies swiftly and effectively.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a General Superintendent leading multiple projects in the business of special foundations and soil improvement.
- Extensive experience managing multiple heavy civil, geotechnical, or specialty foundation construction projects simultaneously.
- Leadership experience with the ability to guide and support other superintendents across various projects.
- Strong understanding of construction planning, scheduling, budgeting, manpower management, and equipment utilization.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
Technical Knowledge
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with techniques such as CFA, Kelly Drilling, Soil Mixing, Diaphragm Wall, Ground Improvement, and Jet Grouting.
- Thorough understanding of specialty foundation construction methods, geotechnical construction practices, and heavy civil operations.
- Competency in reading construction drawings, assessing risks, finding optimal solutions, and assisting the tender department when required.
- Knowledge of project scheduling, sequencing, production planning, and quality control processes.
- Familiarity with applicable OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and construction safety standards.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
- Extensive experience supervising field operations on specialty foundation, heavy civil, or geotechnical construction projects.
- Proven ability to successfully lead large field organizations and manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Experience working with owners, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.

- Ability to climb ladders, access heavy equipment, and safely navigate active work zones.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or holidays as project demands require.
