The AI Data QA & Training Specialist is responsible for evaluating, validating, and improving data used to train and optimize artificial intelligence and machine learning models. This role performs quality assurance reviews of annotated datasets, develops and maintains training standards, identifies opportunities for quality improvement, and supports the delivery of high-quality training data that enhances AI model performance and reliability.

What does a day in the life of an AI Data QA & Training Specialist look like?

• Conduct quality assurance reviews of annotated, labeled, and processed datasets to ensure compliance with established guidelines and quality standards

• Evaluate annotation accuracy, consistency, completeness, and adherence to project requirements

• Identify, document, and resolve data quality issues, inconsistencies, and process deviations

• Develop, maintain, and update annotation guidelines, quality standards, and training materials

• Provide coaching, feedback, and training to annotation teams to improve accuracy, consistency, and productivity

• Perform calibration sessions and quality reviews to ensure alignment across teams and projects

• Analyze quality trends, recurring errors, and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement

• Support the testing, validation, and evaluation of AI model outputs and training datasets

• Document findings, recommendations, and corrective actions related to quality assurance activities

• Collaborate with Operations, Product, Engineering, Data Science, and other stakeholders to support AI training initiatives and business objectives

• Assist with onboarding and training activities for new annotation and quality team members

• Monitor quality metrics and contribute to reporting on data quality, training effectiveness, and operational performance

• Identify opportunities to improve annotation workflows, quality processes, training programs, and operational efficiency

• Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive data and information

• Adhere to company policies and procedures

• Meet or exceed performance targets for related KPIs

• Continuously improve knowledge of products, services, and processes by participating in training programs and continuous learning modules

• Collaborate with other departments as needed

• Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers and colleagues at all times

• Perform other duties as assigned

What are the required qualifications of an AI Data QA & Training Specialist?

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Linguistics, Communications, Business, or a related field preferred
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in data annotation, data labeling, quality assurance, AI training, content review, data processing, or a related role
• Experience conducting quality reviews and applying structured guidelines, policies, and quality standards
• Experience providing training, coaching, feedback, or knowledge transfer within an operational environment
• Strong understanding of data annotation methodologies, quality assurance processes, and data quality principles
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, and quality concerns
• Ability to interpret guidelines, policies, and project requirements and apply them consistently
• Experience working with annotation platforms, quality management tools, databases, spreadsheets, or similar systems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide clear feedback and training
• Ability to analyze quality trends, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Commitment to quality, continuous improvement, operational excellence, and data integrity
• Adaptability and willingness to learn emerging AI technologies, tools, and methodologies
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism
