Grungo Law is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billings and Liens Specialist to join our Pre-Litigation team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the billing and lien resolution process for our personal injury clients, playing a critical role in advancing cases and maximizing client recoveries. This is a fast-paced, client-facing position that requires strong organizational skills, a thorough understanding of NJ PIP and lien issues, and the ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy.

Responsibilities
• Manage PIP and lien issues for active client files from pre-litigation through resolution, including health insurance liens, Medicare and Medicaid liens, and provider billing disputes.
• Request, obtain, and track medical records, bills, and supporting documentation necessary for lien negotiation and resolution.
• Review and audit medical bills for accuracy, coding issues, and billing discrepancies.
• Review and audit health insurance liens for accuracy, identifying discrepancies or improper charges and preparing and submitting disputes when necessary.
• Negotiate reductions of medical liens and outstanding bills with providers, insurers, and lien holders on behalf of clients.
• Maintain consistent and proactive client communication regarding the status of their bills, liens, and case progress.
• Assist in case management by coordinating with attorneys and legal assistants to ensure billing and lien matters are resolved in advance of settlement.
• Maintain and organize all file-related billing and lien documentation in the case management system in accordance with firm protocols.
• Record and store client information accurately, both digitally and in physical files where required.
• Monitor deadlines and follow up on outstanding billing requests, lien verifications, and provider responses.
• Work independently and manage a high-volume caseload with minimal supervision while meeting firm deadlines.
• Support the Pre-Litigation team on related tasks and projects as needed.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to a collaborative, solutions-oriented work environment.
Requirements:Qualifications
• 1–3 years of experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, billing and liens specialist, or in a similar role, with demonstrated knowledge of medical bills and health insurance liens. Experience in a personal injury law firm is preferred.
• NJ PIP experience is required.
• Personal injury experience is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical billing, lien types, and lien negotiation in a plaintiff personal injury context.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally with clients, providers, and insurers.
• Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Receptive to training, feedback, and redirection.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn case management system and other firm-specific software.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to a collaborative, solutions-oriented work environment.
Compensation
$23 - $25 hourly. Benefits and 401(k) available upon eligibility.
