Associate Director - Project Management - Construction Administration

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Associate Director - Project Management - Construction Administration based in United States.

This senior leadership role will oversee construction administration operations across complex, mission-critical and data center projects nationwide.
You will shape departmental strategy, standards, staffing, resource planning, and operational performance while ensuring consistent, high-quality project delivery.
The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on oversight of construction administration practices and client relationships.
You will lead and develop experienced Project Managers, strengthen collaboration between design and field teams, and drive continuous improvement.
Technology, data analytics, workflow automation, and AI will be leveraged to improve forecasting, documentation, reporting, and quality.
You will also serve as a senior client partner, supporting strategic accounts, resolving escalations, and contributing to business development.
This is an opportunity to influence a growing national practice while working remotely with periodic travel to project sites and client locations.

Accountabilities:
  • Define and communicate departmental goals, standards, priorities, and strategic initiatives for construction administration in alignment with broader business objectives.
  • Oversee construction administration delivery across assigned projects and client programs, ensuring quality, consistency, operational performance, and client satisfaction.
  • Monitor departmental metrics, operational risks, and performance trends, providing recommendations and insights to senior leadership.
  • Lead change management initiatives and establish a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement construction administration policies, workflows, standards, and best practices covering site visits, field reporting, RFIs, submittals, change orders, punchlists, and record drawings.
  • Establish QA/QC expectations for construction administration deliverables and ensure alignment with project scope and internal standards.
  • Standardize coordination between design disciplines, external project partners, and contractors while strengthening integration between design and construction workflows.
  • Manage, coach, mentor, and develop Senior Project Managers and Project Managers responsible for construction administration execution.
  • Lead resource forecasting, staffing coordination, workload planning, succession planning, and organizational growth initiatives.
  • Support hiring and performance management while developing leadership capabilities across the team.
  • Contribute to departmental planning, budgeting, utilization, profitability, and operational coordination.
  • Serve as a senior relationship owner for strategic and major clients, acting as an escalation point for construction-phase concerns and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Support proposals, presentations, business development, and capability positioning within data center, mission-critical, and MEP consulting markets.
  • Anticipate market and client needs and help evolve construction administration services accordingly.
  • Champion construction management technology, including platforms such as Procore, as well as AI-enabled tools, analytics, and workflow automation.
  • Use technology and data-driven insights to improve forecasting, documentation, reporting, quality control, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure technology solutions align with organizational requirements for data security, privacy, and operational integrity.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, architectural, structural, industrial, or civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline; alternatively, 12 additional years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
  • At least 12 years of relevant industry experience, including a minimum of 5 years of onsite, field, or construction administration experience.
  • At least 2 years of leadership or management experience with a demonstrated record of people leadership.
  • Advanced knowledge of MEP, fire alarm, fire protection, and related construction trades.
  • Strong knowledge of construction administration procedures, project management practices, construction materials and methods, and industry trends.
  • Experience with mission-critical, data center, commercial, or similarly complex construction environments.
  • Understanding of Method of Procedure (MOP) processes and work notifications.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multiple project teams or client programs, including resource forecasting, staffing, workload management, and operational planning.
  • Strong budget management, client relationship management, and program oversight capabilities.
  • Experience using operational metrics and reporting to support strategic and day-to-day decision-making.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams, as well as construction management platforms such as Procore.
  • Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, improve operational processes, and support innovation.
  • Strong strategic problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex business challenges and translate them into actionable solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to engage executive leaders, employees, clients, contractors, and external partners.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, delegate, and manage competing demands across multiple teams and leadership levels.
  • Comfortable working remotely with strong self-motivation, organization, proactive communication, and accountability.
  • Ability to comply with applicable company, project, and site safety requirements.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% across the United States, including periodic construction site visits.
