Posterity Group LLC is a veteran owned, service-disabled small business, headquartered in Rockville, MD, that specializes in federal government contracting and staffing. We are working with VES (Veteran Evaluation Services) to staff Physical Therapist Assistants to provide their services to veterans in our Rockville, MD headquarters. The Physical Therapist Assistant is expected to perform the following:
- Take instruction from the Physical Therapist
- Ensure that therapy area is clean and tidy at all times to prevent infection
- Administer treatment to patients such as massaging and stretching
- Fix and arrange equipment for physical exercises and treatment and pack them up afterwards
- Interact closely with patients to obtain their medical history
- Keep records of patients’ daily progress and response to treatment
- Bring patients to areas of therapy and take them out afterwards
- Encourage patients to exercise at home as instructed by the Physical Therapist
- Observe patients closely to observe and prevent other heath issues that may arise due to their condition
- Make suggestions to the Physical Therapist on patients’ treatment based on observations.
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program: Formal education provides the clinical knowledge and hands-on training needed to safely assist with patient care and rehabilitation exercises.
- State licensure or certification (required): Most regions require PTAs to be licensed, ensuring they meet professional standards and are qualified to provide patient care.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience
- Understanding of human anatomy and physiology: Knowledge of how the body moves and heals helps PTAs carry out treatment plans effectively and safely.
- Ability to follow treatment plans and clinical instructions: PTAs work under the supervision of physical therapists, so accurately following prescribed exercises and therapies is essential for patient recovery.
- Strong patient care and interpersonal skills: Working closely with patients requires empathy, encouragement, and the ability to build trust during recovery processes.
- Physical stamina and mobility: The role involves standing for long periods, assisting patients with movement, and demonstrating exercises.
- Attention to detail and accuracy: Properly documenting patient progress and ensuring exercises are performed correctly helps prevent injury and supports effective treatment.
- Communication skills with patients and healthcare teams: Clear communication ensures patients understand instructions and allows coordination with therapists and medical staff.
- Patience and motivational ability: Recovery can be slow and challenging, so PTAs must motivate patients and provide consistent encouragement.
- Basic clinical and therapeutic skills: Skills such as assisting with exercises, applying treatments (e.g., heat, ice, or electrical stimulation), and monitoring progress are essential.
- Time management and organization: Managing multiple patients and treatment sessions requires efficient scheduling and prioritization.
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information confidentially: Maintaining patient privacy and following healthcare regulations is critical in a medical setting.
- Problem-solving and adaptability: Patients may respond differently to treatment, requiring adjustments within the therapist’s plan.
- Teamwork and collaboration with healthcare professionals: Working alongside physical therapists and other staff ensures coordinated and effective patient care.
- Commitment to patient safety and quality care: Ensuring proper techniques and monitoring patient responses helps prevent injury and supports successful rehabilitation.
