This is a full-time office-based position, located in Tampa, Florida.

Network Engineer

The Network Engineer at UDT is responsible for the design, implementation, support, and continuous optimization of enterprise and carrier-grade network environments powered primarily by Cisco and Fortinet technologies. This role serves as a key technical resource within a high-performance Managed Services and Service Provider environment, supporting both customer-facing initiatives and internal network operations.

The ideal candidate possesses strong routing, switching, security, and service provider networking expertise, along with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues, support scalable architectures, and maintain highly available environments. This individual must demonstrate strong technical judgment, professionalism, customer communication skills, and the ability to operate independently in fast-paced operational environments.

This is a full-time, client-facing onsite role located in Tampa, Florida.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, and support enterprise and carrier-grade network infrastructures in predominantly
  • Cisco and Fortinet environments.
  • Provision and deploy new customer services, network expansions, and infrastructure upgrades while ensuring adherence to operational standards and best practices.
  • Administer and support service provider network operations, including routing, switching, security, availability, uptime, performance optimization, and capacity planning.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network incidents, outages, and customer-impacting issues across multi-site and hybrid environments.
  • Collaborate with Senior Network Engineers, Operations teams, vendors, and customer stakeholders to identify root causes, implement remediation strategies, and improve network stability and performance.
  • Coordinate with third-party carriers, hardware vendors, and service providers to facilitate timely issue resolution and service restoration.
  • Participate in network growth, modernization, and continuous improvement initiatives, including architecture enhancements and operational efficiencies.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, diagrams, operational procedures, and customer-facing reports.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal knowledge base resources and operational runbooks.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance windows, change management activities, and escalation support as required.
  • Maintain adherence to client policies, security standards, operational procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent technical experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting enterprise, MSP, or carrier-grade networking environments.
  • Active/current CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification required.
  • FCP (Fortinet Certified Professional) in Network Security preferred.
  • Strong hands-on experience with routing and networking technologies including BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, SRv6, QoS, VLANs, VPN technologies, and high availability protocols.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 network environments.
  • Experience supporting customer-facing production environments with strict uptime and SLA requirements.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles, operational best practices, and change management processes.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience supporting multiple customer environments simultaneously within an MSP or service provider organization strongly preferred.

Travel Requirements

  • Must be able to travel to customer and operational sites as required.
  • Must maintain a vehicle in safe and operational condition; vehicle stipend available.
  • Vehicle and operator must remain compliant with all applicable Florida laws and regulations.
  • Must reside locally within the HCPS operational area and be available for onsite responsibilities.

Working Conditions & Expectations

Work Environment

  • Primary reporting location is the HCPS office, with travel to customer and operational sites as needed.
  • This role may require after-hours support, participation in maintenance windows, and response to critical operational incidents.

  • Expected to maintain professional communication, appearance, and conduct at all times when interacting with customers, vendors, leadership, and team members.
  • Must remain attentive, engaged, and capable of performing duties safely and effectively during working hours.

Essential Personnel Designation

  • This role has been identified as a business-critical essential function under the Company Business Continuity Plan (BCP). Team members in this position may be required, at management discretion, to remain onsite, report to alternate locations, or support continuity operations during emergencies or critical business events.

Physical Demands

  • Regular activities include sitting, standing, walking, typing, speaking, climbing ladders, and extended visual concentration.
  • Must be capable of lifting and transporting equipment up to 40 pounds unassisted and heavier equipment with assistance when necessary.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience is required.
  • Applicable experience may be considered as a substitute such as 5+ years of technical experience working in a carrier grade MSP network.
  • CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) is required. This certification must be Active of Current not expired. FCP (Fortinet Certified Professional) in Network Security is a plus.
  • A strong candidate must have 5 years of experience working with various routing protocols and technologies such as OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, SRv6, QOS, Multicasting and working in switched environments with strong understanding of layer 2 networks and topologies as it relates to design in Metro Ethernet deployments.
  • The following certifications are not required but are considered a plus - RHCE, LFCS, LPI, CISSP, CEH, CISM, and CISA.
