Job Description

Distinguished Engineer Server Firmware & System Architecture

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Distinguished Engineer – Server Firmware & System Architecture in United States.

This is a highly strategic, senior technical leadership role focused on defining the future of AI infrastructure at rack scale. You will operate at the intersection of server firmware, system architecture, and high-performance connectivity, shaping next-generation platforms that power large-scale AI training and inference workloads. The role spans deep technical ownership across hardware-software integration, platform firmware, and system performance optimization. You will work closely with hyperscalers, silicon vendors, OEMs, and ecosystem partners to design cohesive, scalable infrastructure architectures. In addition to driving innovation, you will influence industry standards and mentor senior engineering talent across the organization. This is a high-impact position where your architectural decisions will directly shape the evolution of AI data center design. The environment is fast-moving, deeply technical, and centered on solving some of the most complex infrastructure challenges in modern computing.

Accountabilities:
  • Define end-to-end AI platform and rack-scale system architectures, from node-level design to composable infrastructure solutions
  • Architect scalable systems optimized for GPU/accelerator-dense AI training and inference workloads
  • Drive adoption of PCIe-based fabrics for disaggregated compute, memory, and accelerator scalability
  • Lead integration of high-speed connectivity solutions, including retimers, switches, and fabric controllers across platform designs
  • Own server firmware architecture strategy, including BIOS/UEFI, OpenBMC, and Redfish-based system management frameworks
  • Guide platform bring-up and ensure seamless integration across firmware, hardware, and software layers
  • Define long-term firmware and platform roadmaps for AI infrastructure systems
  • Lead performance optimization across PCIe topology, bandwidth scaling, latency, and system throughput
  • Drive memory and system-level tuning across DDR, NUMA, and emerging memory expansion technologies
  • Optimize multi-accelerator environments including GPUs, ASICs, and FPGAs for distributed AI workloads
  • Collaborate with hyperscalers, OEMs, ODMs, and silicon partners to align platform design and execution
  • Influence industry standards across OpenBMC, Redfish, OCP, and related ecosystems
  • Mentor senior engineers and contribute to growing deep technical expertise across teams
  • Represent the organization as a technical leader in AI infrastructure and platform innovation
Requirements:
  • 15+ years of experience in system architecture, server firmware, or platform engineering roles
  • Strong expertise in server BIOS/UEFI and OpenBMC firmware stacks, as well as Redfish or similar datacenter management frameworks
  • Deep understanding of PCIe architecture (Gen4/5/6) and performance optimization techniques
  • Strong background in system-level performance tuning across CPU, memory, and high-performance computing environments
  • Experience with low-level programming in C/C++ and system software development
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale, cross-functional architecture initiatives
  • Experience with AI infrastructure, GPU/accelerator-based systems, or hyperscale data center environments is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with rack-scale composable infrastructure and disaggregated system architectures is a strong advantage
  • Experience with high-speed interconnect technologies such as retimers, switches, or fabric ICs is preferred
  • Contributions to industry standards bodies or open-source firmware ecosystems is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to define multi-year technical roadmaps and influence executive-level decisions
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to guide and mentor senior engineering teams
  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a relevant field is a plus
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package aligned with senior engineering leadership roles
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI infrastructure and rack-scale system design
  • High-impact role influencing global hyperscale data center architecture
  • Collaborative environment with leading hyperscalers, OEMs, and silicon ecosystem partners
  • Strong focus on innovation, technical ownership, and long-term architecture strategy
  • Inclusive workplace culture encouraging diverse perspectives and backgrounds
  • Opportunity to shape industry standards and next-generation computing platforms
