About The Role:

As a Quality Engineer, you’ll be the technical backbone ensuring weld, paint, assembly, and fabrication processes meet customer and ISO standards. You’ll lead problem‑solving efforts, drive corrective actions, and support production teams to prevent defects before they happen.

This is a fully onsite role supporting hands‑on manufacturing operations.

To Be Considered, You Must Meet ALL of the Following:

  • Currently live within commuting distance of Mequon, WI
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • 5+ years of quality or engineering experience in metal fabrication, welding, or heavy manufacturing
  • Strong blueprint/GD&T interpretation skills
  • Experience with PPAP, APQP, 8D, and ISO 9001:2015

What You'll Do:

  • Quality Systems Ownership — Maintain and improve quality systems that support ISO 9001:2015 compliance, internal audits, customer audits, and documentation control
  • Blueprint & GD&T Interpretation — Interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, tolerances, and specifications to ensure product conformance
  • Quality Documentation — Prepare, submit, and maintain PPAP, SPAP, APQP, Control Plans, PFMEAs, and related documentation for new and existing programs
  • Root Cause & Corrective Action Leadership — Lead structured problem‑solving using 8D, 5‑Why, Ishikawa, and other methodologies; verify corrective action effectiveness
  • Inspection Support — Partner with inspectors to validate in‑process, layout, and final inspections; support measurement strategy and inspection planning
  • Process Troubleshooting — Investigate issues in weld, paint, machining, assembly, and fabrication processes; collaborate with production to implement improvements
  • Data & Trend Analysis — Analyze inspection data, scrap trends, and defect patterns to identify systemic issues and drive preventive actions
  • Customer & Supplier Interface — Support customer quality requirements, respond to customer concerns, and collaborate with suppliers on quality expectations and nonconformance resolution
  • Continuous Improvement Projects — Participate in or lead initiatives focused on reducing defects, improving repeatability, and strengthening process capability
  • Training & Coaching — Provide guidance to operators, inspectors, and supervisors on quality tools, standards, and best practices
  • Documentation & Reporting — Maintain accurate records, reports, and quality documentation to support audits, traceability, and customer requirements
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration — Work closely with engineering, production, welding, paint, and assembly teams to ensure quality is built into every step of the process
  • Safety & Compliance - Follow all Super Steel and OSHA safety rules while maintaining a clean, organized work environment

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferred) or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years in quality, engineering, welding, or fabrication environments
  • Proficiency with calipers, scales, tape measures, and other inspection tools
  • Strong communication skills and confidence presenting findings
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Microsoft Office proficiency

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Weld Inspector (CWI)
  • AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.3, D1.6
  • NDT experience (LT, PT, MT, UT)
