This role is centered on improving mobility and independence for individuals by providing expert guidance, assessment, and delivery of assistive and durable medical equipment solutions. The Assistive Technology Professional works closely with clinicians, therapists, and referral partners to evaluate patient needs and recommend appropriate mobility devices such as wheelchairs and related accessories. This position combines clinical collaboration, technical product expertise, and strong relationship-building across healthcare networks. It requires a proactive, field-based professional who can grow referral channels while maintaining trusted partnerships in an established territory. The role also includes hands-on support with equipment delivery, adjustments, and training. It is a highly impactful position where technical knowledge directly improves patient quality of life.
- Collaborate with therapists, clinicians, and healthcare professionals to assess client needs and recommend appropriate mobility and assistive equipment.
- Build and maintain strong referral relationships while actively developing new partnerships within assigned territories.
- Provide product demonstrations, education, and training to healthcare providers, referral sources, and clients.
- Ensure compliance with payer requirements, company policies, and regulatory guidelines related to equipment provision and reimbursement.
- Manage and grow a pipeline of referral opportunities through networking, outreach, and relationship management.
- Support delivery, setup, and basic repair or adjustment of mobility equipment as needed.
- Assist in training wheelchair technicians and supporting operational growth within the mobility services team.
- Maintain ongoing knowledge of assistive technology products, manufacturer updates, and industry advancements.
- Uphold high standards of customer service, ensuring timely, accurate, and compassionate support throughout the client journey.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in healthcare or assistive technology preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in HME/DME, durable medical equipment, or related healthcare support roles.
- ATP certification (required).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and perform hands-on equipment handling tasks.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with healthcare professionals and referral partners.
- Experience working in field-based or territory-driven roles with responsibility for business development.
- Strong understanding of mobility equipment, assistive technology, and patient support needs.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, travel between locations, and work independently in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
