Position: Senior Systems & Infrastructure Specialist
Location: Memphis, TN
Travel: Heavy in the first 3 months - up to 50%; 10-25% thereafter
Hyperion Solutions is a technology-driven vertical transportation solution provider headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, with offices across the United States. Hyperion Solutions connects trusted and respected brands to create the premier integrated provider of Systems & Components and Technical Services for the vertical transportation industry. As a transforming company, we are continuously looking for positive, energetic, and passionate people to join our team.
Hyperion Solutions is currently seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure & Network Specialist to join our Information Technology team based out of Memphis, TN. Reporting to the Director of IT, this position plays a critical, hands-on role in building, upgrading, and maintaining the company’s core IT infrastructure across multiple locations.
This role is heavily focused on execution and deployment—including installing, configuring, and bringing infrastructure online in the field. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with a willingness to perform physical installation work, including cabling, racking equipment, and working on-site at multiple facilities.
The Senior Infrastructure & Network Specialist will partner directly with IT leadership to execute a major infrastructure modernization initiative, ensuring all systems are reliable, secure, and standardized across the organization. Over time, this role will evolve to take ownership of key infrastructure architecture and security initiatives across the organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Deployment & Installation
• Lead hands-on installation and configuration of network and infrastructure equipment across multiple locations
• Perform physical work including running cables, mounting hardware, racking equipment, and ladder work
• Execute infrastructure build-outs, upgrades, and standardization efforts across sites
Network & Security Infrastructure
• Configure and support firewalls, VPNs, switching, and wireless networks
• Perform firmware upgrades, firewall rule management, and security hardening
• Troubleshoot and maintain secure connectivity between all company locations
Systems, Virtualization & Cloud
• Deploy and support Windows Server environments and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar)
• Support Microsoft 365, Azure / Entra ID, and hybrid cloud integrations
• Assist in implementing scalable infrastructure solutions aligned with company growth
Infrastructure Modernization Projects
• Partner with IT leadership to execute company-wide infrastructure upgrades
• Replace legacy systems and bring new environments online
• Take ownership of implementation and delivery—not just design or oversight
Multi-Site Support & Travel
• Travel to company locations to support infrastructure deployments and upgrades
• Act as the lead technical resource on-site during installations
• Help ensure consistency and standardization across all environments
Future State Ownership & Architecture
As the infrastructure environment matures, this role will take on increasing ownership of core architecture and security initiatives, including:
• Ownership and evolution of FortiGate firewall architecture and standards
• Design and optimization of site-to-site VPN architecture across all locations
• Development and management of Azure infrastructure architecture and governance
• Support and cleanup of AWS environments, including rationalization and cost optimization
• Leadership of infrastructure security initiatives, including hardening, monitoring, and risk reduction
• Establishment and enforcement of infrastructure standards and best practices across all sites
This progression is a key part of the role and requires both hands-on execution capability and strategic thinking over time.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred
• 5–10+ years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, network administration, or systems roles
• Strong experience with:
o Firewalls (configuration, deployment, troubleshooting)
o Network infrastructure (switching, routing, VPNs, wireless)
o Windows Server and virtualization platforms
o Microsoft 365 and Azure environments
• Proven experience physically deploying IT infrastructure (not solely managing vendors)
• Experience supporting multi-site environments
• Willingness and ability to perform physical installation work (lifting equipment, cabling, ladder use)
• Experience with IT operational tools such as ConnectWise, Intune, or other RMM platforms preferred
Ideal Candidate Profile:
We are looking for someone who:
• Enjoys building, upgrading, and improving IT environments hands-on
• Is as comfortable working in a server room or on-site as behind a desk
• Takes ownership and does not rely heavily on third-party vendors
• Can work independently while partnering closely with IT leadership
• Thrives in environments that require both technical expertise and physical execution
• Has the capability and desire to grow into ownership of infrastructure architecture and standards
Capabilities
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across infrastructure and network systems
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced, multi-site environment
• Ability to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong ownership mentality with a focus on delivery and results
• Effective communication and documentation skills
• Security-minded approach to protecting systems and data
Benefits:
At Hyperion Solutions, Inc., we understand that our employees are our most valuable asset. We offer a competitive salary, generous benefits package, opportunities for advancement, and a positive work environment that recognizes initiative and enables personal growth.
