This is a fully on-site Water Safety Supervisor role based in Palm Desert, California, supervising lifeguards on shift and supporting the safety readiness of the lagoon.
What You'll Do
As our Water Safety Supervisor, you support the Water Safety Manager by supervising lifeguards on shift, keeping coverage tight, and making sure safety standards are followed in real time across all lagoon zones.Shift Supervision & Coverage
- Supervise lifeguards on duty across Bay and Reef zones during assigned shifts
- Monitor guard positioning, rotation schedules, and stand assignments throughout the shift
- Respond to callouts and adjust real-time coverage in coordination with the Water Safety Manager
- Support daily scheduling and attendance tracking for the lifeguard team
Training & Guard Development Support
- Reinforce lifeguard training standards, certifications, and skills development on shift
- Assist with in-service trainings, scenario drills, and performance check-ins
- Model professionalism and preparedness for the guard team on every shift
- Flag coaching opportunities and performance concerns to the Water Safety Manager
Safety Protocol Execution
- Enforce Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) and safety protocols during shift
- Act as an on-duty safety authority in the absence of the Water Safety Manager
- Support drills, audits, and readiness checks for safety equipment across the lagoon
- Communicate safety concerns, incidents, and operational flags promptly to leadership
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain accurate shift logs, incident notes, and coverage records
- Partner with the on-duty Wave Manager to keep safety and operations communication aligned
- Support guest safety communication and pre-session orientation standards
What You Bring
- 1+ years of experience in water safety, lifeguarding, or aquatic operations required
- Current lifeguard certification, CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required or ability to obtain before start date
- Experience supervising or mentoring lifeguards or aquatic staff preferred
- Working knowledge of aquatic safety standards and emergency response procedures
- Calm, level-headed presence in high-pressure and emergency situations
- Strong communication and documentation habits
- Comfortable working outdoors and in active surf and aquatic environments for extended periods

Current Work Environment
DSRT SURF is currently operating within an active growth and development environment. Team members may occasionally work around changing operational priorities, evolving business needs, events, and active hospitality environments. Appropriate attire and adherence to all company standards and policies will be required while representing the brand.
Physical Requirements

- Ability to work in and around water environments for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift, move, or carry safety equipment and operational materials
- Ability to respond quickly and decisively in emergency situations
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions
Compensation
This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. The anticipated salary for this role is $75,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, skills, and business needs.

Schedule Expectations
This is a full-time position with a schedule built around lifeguard coverage needs, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as required.
