Job Description

OVERVIEW: The primary purpose and function of this position is to provide preventative maintenance, repair services and spa tub installations at customer locations in accordance with established procedures and methods using appropriate tools, test equipment, and replacement parts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide superior service to customers in accordance with Handicare’s terms and conditions
  • Move spa tubs using manual assisted lifting techniques and perform complete electrical and plumbing installation at client locations
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers and Handicare’s employees
  • Accurately identifies customer expectations and needs, while recommending products and services based on observed customer needs
  • Participate in all training programs and demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and concepts obtained from these training programs
  • Prepare and submit accurate reports on time
  • Maintain expenses and required inventory within Handicare’s guidelines
  • Comply with all Handicare, customer and government Health and Safety regulations
  • Responsible for regular maintenance and cleanliness of vehicle
  • Accountable for maintaining vehicle inventory, tool inventory, and good condition of tools provided
  • Occasionally assist with training new hires via job shadowing and demonstration of tasks
  • Other duties as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

  • High school diploma
  • 2-4 years of experience or training in a technical support role or technical repair role in the biomedical device field or equivalent field is an asset
  • Previous experience in the health care industry is an asset

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES OR REGISTRATIONS:

  • Safety certifications such as WHMIS, ladder safety, infection control precaution training, and fall protection are assets. Employer will provide training as required
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing. Driver’s abstract/record required
  • Must be able to pass routine screening and criminal background checks

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Ability to operate and navigate a mobile phone (Android/IOS), PC and/or tablet (Microsoft OS)
  • Ability to navigate, complete, and save Adobe PDF fillable forms
  • Competency with Windows and Microsoft Office applications required (Word, Excel)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee may frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch during shift.
  • Employee will be required to regularly climb ladders (minimum 8 feet) and safely carry up to 12kg (26lbs) lifting motors up and down ladders.
  • Employee must be able to occasionally lift up to 250kg (550lbs) using team lifting procedures and manual assisted lifting devices, taking every reasonable precaution during the movement of product

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position works in an environment with moderate to loud noise levels.
  • This position may be required to enter acute and long-term care rooms subject to infection control precaution procedures. Training on Infection Prevention & Control Routine Practices will be provided
  • PPE training and equipment will be provided by the company

TRAVEL:

  • Travel to customer locations within assigned territory (Mississauga, Burlington, Durham, Peterborough, Midland/ Orillia). Some overnight travel required
