The Planning & SIOP Manager owns Daniel Defense's integrated planning function, including Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP), Master Production Scheduling (MPS), production planning, capacity planning, inventory strategy, and planning system governance.

This role translates business demand into executable production and supply plans that balance customer requirements, manufacturing capacity, supplier capability, inventory investment, and financial objectives. Partnering across Sales, Operations, Finance, Manufacturing, Procurement, Product Development, Quality, and Business Excellence, the Planning & SIOP Manager ensures the business operates from a single, aligned plan while providing the visibility and decision support required to sustain growth.

Essential Functions:

  • Own and lead the enterprise SIOP process, aligning demand, supply, inventory, capacity, and financial objectives.
  • Facilitate executive SIOP reviews by presenting business risks, capacity constraints, inventory impacts, and recommended actions.
  • Lead scenario planning to support business growth, changing market demand, new product launches, and operational constraints.
  • Ensure SIOP decisions translate into executable production, procurement, inventory, and capacity plans.
  • Own the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and production planning process to support customer demand while optimizing schedule stability, manufacturing lead times, and inventory investment.
  • Balance demand, material availability, manufacturing capacity, and supplier capability to develop achievable production plans.
  • Partner with Operations and Business Excellence to align production schedules with labor, equipment, tooling, and process capacity.
  • Lead planning recovery activities related to supplier constraints, quality issues, engineering changes, and production disruptions.
  • Develop inventory strategies that balance customer service, production continuity, and working capital objectives.
  • Own planning system governance, including planning parameters, lead times, safety stock, planning calendars, and ERP master data.
  • Ensure MRP outputs, planning exceptions, and supply risks are proactively managed through disciplined planning processes.
  • Lead Plan for Every Part (PFEP) strategies supporting inventory optimization, supermarkets, replenishment methods, and production flow.
  • Establish planning metrics, dashboards, and reporting that provide visibility into inventory, schedule performance, capacity, forecast accuracy, and production readiness.
  • Drive continuous improvement of planning processes, ERP utilization, reporting capabilities, and organizational maturity.
  • Support ERP optimization and future planning system enhancements to improve planning effectiveness and automation.
  • Lead and develop the Planning organization while establishing clear ownership, accountability, and standard work.
  • Develop team capability in SIOP, MRP, production planning, inventory management, capacity planning, and business analytics.
  • Serve as the primary planning partner across Operations, Procurement, Engineering, Finance, Sales, Product Development, and Manufacturing to support informed business decisions.
  • Success Measures

  • SIOP process maturity and executive decision effectiveness.
  • Master Production Schedule (MPS) attainment.
  • Manufacturing lead time reduction.
  • Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO) and inventory turns.
  • Forecast accuracy and schedule stability.
  • Material availability and shortage reduction.
  • Capacity plan accuracy and production readiness.
  • ERP planning discipline and planning parameter accuracy.
  • Successful support of new product launches.
  • Planning team development and organizational capability.
  • Responsible for demonstrating commitment to and leadership of environmental health and safety principles, policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the company’s efforts to continuously improve in Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
  • Expected to be a contributor to the company standards on high integrity, safety, fair and equitable treatment and a positive work environment.
  • Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management.

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or a combination of related experience, education and/or training to sufficiently and successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 7+ years of progressive Operations/Supply Chain leadership experience, ideally in manufacturing, defense, or a similarly regulated industrial environment.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting and bending throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, to include working in and around machinery, exposure to noise and chemicals, lights/lasers, etc.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by your position and/or Company policy.
