About Appellation

Born from the elegant merger of the culinary and hospitality worlds, Appellation is much more than a typical hotel company. Inspired by its name, this new hotel brand brings together the best of local elements in a new way: a hotel collection powered by people, connected by food, and defined by place — all designed to celebrate its destinations' culture, community, and craftsmanship.

Developed by visionary co-founders Charlie Palmer, one of America's best-known, award-winning chefs and a pioneer of the American hotel-restaurant model, and Christopher Hunsberger, a 30-year veteran of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and its former President of North America. Join Appellation as its first hotels and resorts take root.

Overview of Position:

Great restaurants run on great shifts, and that's where you come in. As Restaurant Shift Supervisor, you're the person on the floor who keeps service moving, keeps the team sharp, and makes sure every guest — whether they're in for a quick glass of wine or a full tasting menu — leaves talking about the experience. You'll work side by side with the F&B Leadership, but during your shift, you set the tone: fast when it needs to be fast, warm always, and detail-obsessed from the pour to the plate.

This is a hands-on, hourly leadership role — part coach, part expediter, part host — for someone who genuinely loves the energy of a working restaurant.

Please note this position is shift-based, and hours will fluctuate with business needs. During slower seasons, when Shift Supervisor coverage isn't required, you may be offered Server shifts instead.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Open and close the restaurant with precision — cash drawers balanced, stations set, shift hand-offs clean
  • Own the floor during your shift: reading the room, adjusting seating and pacing, and stepping in wherever the team needs support
  • Jump into the action — take orders, run food, pour and prepare drinks, and turn tables with genuine hospitality
  • Keep food safety, alcohol service, and health standards airtight, every shift, no exceptions
  • Coach and train new team members in real time, reinforcing standards set by the Restaurant Manager
  • Manage inventory basics — restocking, rotating, and keeping the space guest-ready and spotless
  • Flag issues before they become problems, looping in F&B leadership on operations or performance concerns
  • Rally the team around sales goals and service standards, shift after shift
  • Pitch in on both sides of the pass — back of house or front of house — wherever F&B Leadership needs an extra hand
Requirements:

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of food service experience — you know the rhythm of a busy shift
  • 1+ year in a supervisory or lead role preferred — you've led a shift, trained a newer team member, or run a section with confidence
  • A genuine gift for hospitality — warm, clear communication with guests and teammates alike
  • The ability to stay calm and sharp when the restaurant is slammed
  • Comfort handling cash and basic math under pressure
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • A current (or in-progress) California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification, required if serving alcohol
  • A California Food Handler Card within 30 days of hire, per California SB 602

Essential Functions:

To perform the duties and requirements for this job, you must have the following physical abilities:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods, including up and down stairs
  • Lift and carry up to 25 lbs, and bend, stoop, and reach as needed
  • See, read, hear, and communicate clearly in person and by phone
  • Sit for periods of up to 4 hours when needed
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, with or without reasonable accommodation

Constant: standing, sitting, repetitive use of hands, arms, and legs Frequent: typing, mouse use, bending of neck, climbing stairs Occasional: twisting of neck

Job Type: Full-time
