Job Description

Description:

Fervo Energy is applying first-principles engineering and a manufacturing mindset to geothermal power — an industry that has operated the same way for decades. We are not building one-off power plants. We are building a product: GeoBlock, a standardized, repeatable geothermal generation unit designed to get cheaper, faster, and more reliable with every iteration.

Supply Chain is not a support function here. Our job is to be embedded with Engineering early — shaping electrical equipment specs and supplier strategy before decisions are locked in, not sourcing against a finished design.

The Sourcing Manager, Electrical owns category strategy and execution for Fervo's electrical equipment scope — transformers, breakers, switchgear, motors, drives, and balance-of-plant electrical systems. This role partners directly with Engineering on specification decisions, builds competitive supplier options where categories have historically defaulted to a single vendor, and negotiates agreements that determine both cost and schedule risk for every GeoBlock.

Requirements:

Responsibilities

  • Build and own a documented sourcing strategy for electrical equipment categories, including transformers, breakers, switchgear, motors, drives, etc.
  • Identify and qualify alternate suppliers to reduce single-source dependency and strengthen negotiating leverage
  • Track tariff exposure and enforce domestic content requirements, and incorporate strategic principles into sourcing decisions
  • Engage Engineering early on electrical equipment specifications; help identify where specs drive unnecessary cost
  • Bring supplier and market insight into design reviews before requirements are finalized
  • Lead commercial negotiations for electrical equipment purchases and services, from RFQ through contract execution
  • Structure contracts and delivery terms that protect schedule and give Fervo visibility into supplier performance
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance across the electrical equipment category post-award
  • Partner with Logistics and Expediting to maintain delivery of long-lead electrical equipment by site-required installation dates

Qualifications

Required

  • 2+ years of sourcing, procurement, or category management experience, ideally in electrical equipment, power generation, or industrial capital equipment
  • 5+ years in the workforce with experience designing, procuring, or maintaining electrical equipment
  • Experience negotiating equipment or services contracts with meaningful commercial value
  • Comfortable reading and engaging with electrical engineering specifications
  • Track record of building supplier options where a category has relied on a single vendor

Preferred

  • Degree in electrical engineering or similar
  • Experience sourcing transformers, breakers, switchgear, or other power generation electrical equipment
  • Familiarity with tariff and domestic content considerations (Section 301/232, IRA domestic content adders)
  • Experience partnering directly with engineering teams on spec development
  • Background in energy infrastructure, industrial manufacturing, or capital projects

Location

Fervo Energy is headquartered in Houston, TX. This is a hybrid role based in Houston. Some travel may be required.
