Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO), the Director, Enterprise Data & Integration is responsible for establishing and maturing the organization's enterprise data capability. This includes developing the enterprise data strategy, architecture, governance framework, integration standards, and technology roadmap required to support operational excellence, analytics, reporting, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation.

The Director will help build and lead a small Data Engineering team and work across business and technology functions to transform fragmented, project-based data initiatives into a scalable, governed, and sustainable enterprise capability. This role is accountable for ensuring enterprise data is managed, integrated, and leveraged as a strategic asset across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Data Strategy & Capability Development

  • Develop and maintain the enterprise data strategy, roadmap, operating model, and target-state architecture aligned with business priorities.
  • Establish and mature enterprise data capabilities spanning architecture, governance, integration, engineering standards, and information management practices.
  • Partner with business and technology leaders to enable data-driven decision-making, analytics, automation, and AI readiness.

Data Architecture, Governance & Integration

  • Define and govern enterprise data architecture, integration architecture, information management standards, and reference models.
  • Establish scalable approaches for APIs, MuleSoft integration services, event-driven architecture, data pipelines, metadata, lineage, master/reference data, and data quality.
  • Ensure enterprise data solutions are secure, compliant, resilient, and aligned with enterprise architecture principles.

Platforms, Technology & Innovation

  • Provide strategic leadership for enterprise data platforms, integration technologies, analytics environments, and AI-enabling capabilities.
  • Evaluate technologies, vendors, and strategic investments to ensure alignment with business objectives, architecture standards, and long-term sustainability.
  • Drive modernization, simplification, and standardization across the enterprise data and integration landscape.

Leadership & Delivery Enablement

  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and direction to the Data Engineering team while fostering strong engineering and operational practices.
  • Support the planning, prioritization, and successful delivery of enterprise data and integration initiatives.
  • Build strong partnerships across business units, cybersecurity, infrastructure, applications, enterprise architecture, and external partners.

Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish governance processes, architecture reviews, standards, and decision-making frameworks for enterprise data and integration solutions.
  • Identify and reduce technical debt, platform fragmentation, unmanaged data movement, and point-to-point integrations.
  • Promote reuse, consistency, and continuous improvement across enterprise data platforms, services, and integration capabilities.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise data architecture, integration architecture, data engineering, enterprise architecture, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience developing enterprise data strategies, governance frameworks, architecture standards, and technology roadmaps.
  • Experience leading technical teams and influencing senior business and technology stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data management, integration, governance, analytics, cloud platforms, security, and information management principles.
  • Experience working with or familiarity with AI/ML models

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing and governing enterprise integration capabilities using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, including API-led connectivity, reusable integration services, event-driven architectures, and integration governance.
  • Experience with modern enterprise data platforms including Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, Purview, AWS data services, or comparable technologies.
  • Experience supporting enterprise analytics, reporting, AI/ML, automation, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with TOGAF, DAMA-DMBOK, COBIT, ITIL, or comparable architecture and governance frameworks.

It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission SystemsCanada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. You must be eligible to work in Canada.



Additional Information
