The Spirit of the Position:
The National Transportation Compliance Clerk positionis an office position that oversees the Safety programs related to the transportation safety management process and provides overall support and guidance to assigned operational areas. This role coordinates and reports to the Director of Transportation Safety.
Salary Range: $66,000 - $73,000
As a company devoted to promoting and an employee-focused servant leadership culture, The Safety Administrator plays a critical role in supporting the Transportation Safety team by monitoring of all onboarding Driver Qualification Files for all nationwide Commercial Drivers, monitor and maintain our internal Drug and Alcohol Testing Program, maintain national and state licenses and permits and other compliance tasks assigned. The Compliance Clerk works closely with the Senior Director of Safety, the Transportation Safety team, and field leadership to drive regulatory compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement across all transportation operations.
Principal Job Duties:
- Monitor daily activity of company DOT drug and alcohol testing
- Control and assign random pool
- Maintain CDL driver list
- Check every CDL driver pre-employment background checks and screenings for accuracy before employee start date
- Monitor compliance levels of all shuttle locations
- Follow up on corrective action plans, assist regional managers
- Spot check locations files
- Create online driver files**
- Assist Fleet team with admin tasks and duties
- Track, prep and assist in CHP audits
- Monitor HOS compliance and driver second job compliance
- Assist HR team in building driver files as needed
- Work closely with HR with onboarding items
Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate regularly with regional and local safety teams to ensure compliance expectations are met.
- Respond to compliance-related inquiries from local teams and assist with FMCSA documentation submissions.
- Participate in safety meetings, sharing trends and insights to inform leadership decisions.
- This role is based in Denver Colorado in our downtown office.
Performance Metrics
- Commercial Driver Random Pool adherence and timelines.
- Satisfactory Controlled Substance government audits.
- Completeness and accuracy of compliance documentation and DQ files.
- Responsiveness and service quality to field and leadership teams.
- Effective tracking and communication with locations on DQF corrective actions.
Requirements:
Education:
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
Experience:
- 3-5 years of Transportation Industry experience
- Strong understanding of FMCSA and DOT regulations, including driver qualification, Drug and Alcohol Testing
- Experience using in-cab camera and compliance systems (e.g., Samsara, Samba Safety, FMCSA portal).
- Commercial Drivers License (CDL) preferred.
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Intermediate knowledge of Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
- Intermediate knowledge of logistics software
- Working knowledge of performance management/ monitoring systems
- Analysis and identification of risk trends, problems, and solutions.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely using appropriate mediums (for example, face-to-face, e-mail, and presentations, virtual collaboration tools), listen effectively, demonstrate understanding, and clarify meaning for others.
- Ability to interact cooperatively and collaboratively with others as a team, including those holding divergent and/or opposing views and goals.
- Understand and apply meaningful operations and safety performance metrics.
Travel:
- Must be willing to travel within the assigned regions, as necessary, with limited travel throughout the country and Canada as needed. Up to 15% of the time in the field.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift, push and pull at least ten pounds.
