Associate Director, Clinical Project Management

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced clinical project management professional eager to contribute to the advancement of innovative therapies in a dynamic clinical development environment. In this role, you will oversee clinical project management activities across multiple studies and programs, ensuring operational excellence in timeline management, budgeting, forecasting, and cross-functional coordination. You will collaborate closely with Clinical Operations, Finance, and Project Portfolio Management teams to drive efficient study execution and support long-term strategic planning. The position offers strong visibility across organizational leadership and the opportunity to mentor project management teams while improving processes and operational frameworks. Accountabilities:
  • Oversee clinical project management activities across multiple studies and clinical programs, ensuring effective timeline, budget, accrual, and risk management.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standardized processes, templates, and operational frameworks to support consistent and high-quality clinical study execution.
  • Collaborate with Project and Portfolio Management teams to support annual budgeting, long-range planning, and clinical program forecasting activities.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for study timelines, financial planning, accrual tracking, and clinical program operational health.
  • Lead and mentor Clinical Project Managers, supporting team development, performance, and operational excellence.
  • Oversee monthly accrual processes and collaborate closely with Finance teams to monitor forecasts, troubleshoot variances, and manage overall program spending.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of study milestones, budget updates, dashboards, and management summaries.
  • Identify operational or financial risks proactively and implement corrective actions to maintain program objectives and study performance.
  • Support lifecycle management initiatives, scenario planning, and resource demand forecasting in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at streamlining project management operations and enhancing organizational efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive clinical project management experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO environments.
  • At least 7 years of supervisory or people leadership experience managing project management teams or cross-functional clinical operations staff.
  • Strong understanding of drug development processes, clinical trial operations, and clinical financial management.
  • Proven ability to manage complex clinical programs, budgets, timelines, and operational deliverables within matrix organizations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities with experience guiding and developing project management professionals.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in fast-paced and highly collaborative environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Clinical Operations, Finance, and Portfolio Management teams is highly valued.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, up to approximately 5% as needed.
