Job Summary
The Respiratory Therapist reports to and assists the Respiratory Therapy Director in coordination of hospital and department resources to ensure staffing to appropriately provide respiratory therapy that is technically, clinically, and financially sound. Respiratory therapists are clinical support for staff, physicians, and patients and are role models for competency and professionalism.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform all the procedures outlined in the Minidoka Memorial Hospitals policies and procedure Manual.
· Responsibilities may include the following specialized procedures:
· Invasive and non-invasive Ventilator care.
· Lung Expansion Therapies
· Bronchial Hygiene therapies
· Aerosol therapies
· Oxygen therapies
· Pulmonary function lab studies
· Arterial Puncture
· Endotracheal intubation
· Respiratory Assessment referrals
· Home Sleep Apnea Testing
· On-call response flexing during high and low needs.
· Assume designated responsibilities during facility codes. Cardiac stress testing.
· Assist with Quality Assurance reporting.
· Play an active role in Continuous Quality Improvement.
· Actively participate in Infection Control.
· Assist with the development, implementation, and yearly review of policies and procedures.
· Maintain a safe work environment for patients, visitors, and staff members.
· Maintain professional and ethical conduct with strict adherence to patient confidentiality.
· Become a patient care team member, discussing with the physician and team members pertinent aspects of patient care. Administer prescribed medications in a safe and timely manner.
· Provide thorough documentation of all RC procedures in the patients Electronic Medical Record
· Aids in the restocking of department related supplies, disinfection, and assembly of cleaned equipment.
· Miscellaneous equipment maintenance.
· Safe handling and use of gas cylinders and liquid portables
· Review department charges daily and return to business office.
· Complete scheduling for outpatient testing
· Complete scanning and distribution of patient reports.
· Actively engage in quality improvement activities.
· Assists discharge planning and DME provider in anticipation of the patient’s respiratory discharge needs.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:Minimum Requirements
· NBRC RRT/CRT Credentialed
· Licensed by the Idaho State Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses
· ACLS and BLS certifications
Preferred Requirements
· Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
· Critical Care/ICU experience
· NRP, PALS certifications
· Intubation experience
Skills/Competencies
· PFT, HST ad Cardiac Monitor Experience a plus
