This role offers the opportunity to shape the core video playback experience used by millions of users across a leading digital entertainment ecosystem. You will work on building and evolving a high-performance iOS Video Player SDK that powers seamless streaming experiences across platforms. Sitting at the intersection of mobile engineering and video technology, you will contribute to highly scalable playback systems while solving complex performance and reliability challenges. The environment is collaborative and cross-functional, bringing together engineers, QA, and operations teams to deliver high-quality streaming products. Your work will directly impact video quality, playback stability, and user experience at scale. This is a fully remote role with occasional in-person collaboration to strengthen alignment and team connection.
- Design, build, and maintain a high-performance iOS Video Player SDK using Swift and Apple media frameworks, ensuring scalability and long-term maintainability.
- Develop and optimize video playback capabilities including HLS streaming, buffering strategies, DRM (FairPlay), and offline viewing features.
- Lead architectural decisions for cross-platform video playback systems while contributing to shared SDK and platform components.
- Diagnose and resolve complex playback issues across the video delivery pipeline, improving performance, reliability, and user experience.
- Collaborate with engineering, QA, and operations teams to deliver high-quality releases and ensure seamless streaming performance.
- Provide technical leadership through code reviews, documentation, and mentorship to elevate engineering practices across the team.
- Strong experience in iOS development with deep expertise in Swift and Apple frameworks such as AVFoundation and AVPlayer.
- Hands-on experience with HLS streaming, DRM (FairPlay), and advanced video playback optimization techniques.
- Solid understanding of streaming protocols, bitrate adaptation, buffering behavior, and performance debugging in media applications.
- Experience building scalable SDKs, shared platform components, or complex mobile architecture systems.
- Familiarity with QoE metrics, analytics, and instrumentation for video performance is a strong plus.
- Exposure to additional platforms (Android, web, Roku) or video advertising standards (VAST/VMAP) is a plus.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills in cross-functional engineering environments.
