Job Description

BUYER PLANNER – CTO

Location: New Berlin, WI

Overall objective:

Administer the purchasing of steel and components needed for the Configured to Order (CTO) business. Act as the subject matter expert when determining the needed steel quantities based on the drawings and BOMs supplied.

Overall objective:

Administer the purchasing of steel and components needed for the Configured to Order (CTO) business. Act as the subject matter expert when determining the needed steel quantities based on the drawings and BOMs supplied.

Job Responsibilities:

Source steel & third-party material from various vendors within Canada & the United States.

Ability to analyze SAP job cost against RFQ to identify opportunities for competitive sourcing.

Understanding vendor capabilities, identify opportunities for alternative supplier sources to optimize
working capital.

Thorough review and comparison on all quoted objectives to choose the supplier that meets the overall job scope with inclusion of budget, lead-time, and quality.

Communicate internally between various departments to relay any necessary information without delay.

Handle external communication regarding suppliers’ quotes, on-time delivery, and quality control
concerns.

Write & document work instructions of daily processes & procedures inclusive of SAP steps to allow
continuous improvement.

Participate in continuous improvement projects as needed – Lean Six Sigma results driven.

Daily review of open purchase requests from internal departments that rely on a timely turnaround to
meet operational execution.

Sense of urgency in work completion to assess internal and external needs.

Works with internal engineering, internal departments, and suppliers to ensure any changes are
implemented and understood.

Ability to read engineering drawings/blueprints.

Knowledge and understanding of heavy steel and associated processes, including welding, machining, etc.


Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or

related discipline preferred.

Experience: One to three years of industrial purchasing related experience required.

Other Requirements: Knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Office, Outlook, SharePoint, excellent personal computer skills, strong written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to work in a structured, fast-paced, and multi-
tasking work environment is required. Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills. Working

knowledge of manufacturing processes and ability to read blueprints is highly preferred. Must be highly organized, motivated, efficient, and detail oriented, with the ability to prioritize work. Salary commensurate with experience.
