Banner/Oracle DBA IV

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Banner/Oracle DBA IV based in United States.

This is a senior-level database administration role focused on supporting complex ERP and enterprise application environments, with a strong emphasis on stability, performance, and security.
The position plays a critical role in managing and optimizing large-scale Oracle database systems supporting business-critical platforms, including Ellucian Banner ERP.
You will be responsible for ensuring high availability, disaster recovery readiness, and seamless integration across application and database layers.
The role requires deep technical expertise in Oracle Database administration, performance tuning, patching, and lifecycle management in production environments.
You will also contribute to architectural decisions, standards development, and long-term infrastructure planning.
Working closely with systems, operations, and application teams, you will help ensure secure, reliable, and scalable enterprise services.
This is a highly technical and leadership-oriented position suited for experienced DBAs who thrive in complex, mission-critical environments.

Accountabilities:
  • Manage end-to-end administration of enterprise databases, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, backup, recovery, and performance tuning of Oracle Database environments supporting enterprise applications.
  • Support and optimize ERP platforms such as Ellucian Banner, ensuring system availability, integrity, and performance across application and database layers.
  • Perform advanced SQL development, database object migrations, and shell scripting to support automation, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
  • Design, implement, and maintain high availability architectures and disaster recovery solutions, including business continuity planning and data archiving strategies.
  • Monitor system performance using tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager and other diagnostics platforms to ensure optimal uptime and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with systems and operations teams to enforce security controls, audit trails, access management, and data protection policies.
  • Install, configure, and integrate middleware and application components, including web/application servers such as Apache Tomcat.
  • Troubleshoot complex database, application, and integration issues across ERP and third-party systems, including vendor coordination and support case management.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior DBA team members while contributing to standards, policies, and long-term infrastructure strategy.
  • Evaluate, plan, and implement third-party application integrations with ERP environments while ensuring system compatibility and stability.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience (preferred).
  • 5–9 years of experience as an Oracle DBA or Banner DBA in enterprise environments.
  • Strong expertise in Oracle Database administration including installation, patching, upgrades, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience supporting ERP systems such as Ellucian Banner in production environments.
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience with database object migration and optimization.
  • Strong shell scripting skills and automation experience in Unix/Linux environments.
  • Solid understanding of application server architecture and middleware integration.
  • Experience with system monitoring, troubleshooting, and capacity planning in large-scale environments.
  • Knowledge of high availability architectures, disaster recovery design, and business continuity planning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex system issues.
  • Ability to work independently, lead technical initiatives, and collaborate across infrastructure and application teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to document and present technical solutions clearly.
