This role offers a unique opportunity to document the human side of homelessness, poverty, trauma, and restoration, while helping others experience the mission through authentic and impactful storytelling.

From interviewing families rebuilding their lives to capturing volunteers serving meals, this role gives donors, volunteers, partners, and the community a real-time window into the work happening every day at Metropolitan Ministries. Through compelling stories, photography, video, social media, and digital content, the Associate Director of Content and Storytelling helps connect audiences to the people and purpose behind the mission.

This is a creative, fast-paced, and deeply mission-driven role for someone who thrives on human connection, emotional intelligence, collaboration, and storytelling that inspires action. Working closely with internal teams and external agency partners, this position develops meaningful content for fundraising campaigns, donor communications, blogs, newsletters, social media, and organizational storytelling initiatives, often under tight deadlines and in rapidly changing environments.

The ideal candidate is equal parts storyteller, content strategist, relationship-builder, and frontline reporter; someone who can recognize powerful moments as they unfold and translate them into stories that move people to care, engage, give, and act.

  • Work closely with internal teams and external agency partners to provide authentic frontline stories, testimonials, interviews, photography, and content resources for fundraising appeals, blogs, newsletters, campaigns, media opportunities, and donor communications
  • Coordinate and manage storytelling requests across departments while balancing multiple projects and tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Collaborate across departments to strengthen alignment and participation in the storytelling process
  • Conduct interviews and gather stories from clients, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners with professionalism, compassion, and sensitivity
  • Create written stories, videos, photography, and other multimedia content that reflect the dignity, hope, and transformation experienced through the work of Metropolitan Ministries
  • Help develop inspirational campaigns and storytelling initiatives that strengthen awareness, engagement, fundraising, volunteerism, and community connection

  • Managing content calendars and supervising social media execution

Skill Requirements:

  • Strong practitioner in content creation and storytelling with the ability to execute in real time while understanding how content supports broader communications, fundraising, and engagement goals
  • Exceptional writing, editing, interviewing, and storytelling skills with the ability to create compelling, emotionally resonant content across digital, social media, and fundraising platforms
  • Proficiency with video editing platforms such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, Motion Array, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar content creation tools

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Creative thinker with strong attention to detail and a passion for mission-driven storytelling
