About This Position
Certified Scrub Technician-Operating Room
Job Summary:
Assists the surgical team in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient/family/significant other’s needs and nursing care in the operating room. Under the supervision of a registered nurse, assists with preparation of operating room set-up; provides assistance to surgeon and nursing personnel; inpatients and outpatients ; maintains safety for patients while under anesthesia. Fullfills on-call department responsibilities. Demonstrates professional/clinical competency; functions under aseptic techniques; assists with surgical procedures on patients of all ages and performs other related duties.
Education and Experience:
Must have completed a post-high school program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP); one year of clinical experience preferred; Associate’s degree program preferred. Current or pending certification from an accredited certified surgical technologist program and follow continuing education requirements to maintain certification. BLS required within 1 year of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Basic computer skills; good interpersonal communication skills; ability to work independently; ability to use proper body mechanics when lifting, pushing and pulling; motor coordination to work with equipment; ability to understand oral/written instructions; understanding of medical terminology.
