About This Position

Description:

PE Teachers plan and deliver lessons to students of various ages, focusing on developing physical fitness, motor skills, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyle habits through a range of activities like sports, exercise routines, and games, while also assessing student progress and ensuring a safe learning environment.

Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Design lesson plans that incorporate diverse physical activities, including individual, partner, and team sports, aligned with age-appropriate developmental goals.
  • Teach proper techniques for various sports and exercises, demonstrating skills, and providing feedback to students of different abilities.
  • Evaluate student performance through observation, participation, and skill demonstrations, providing feedback to improve their physical abilities
  • Ensure a safe learning environment by enforcing safety rules, supervising students during activities, and addressing potential hazards
  • Create a positive and fun learning environment to encourage participation and foster a love for physical activity
  • Integrating health concepts like nutrition, hygiene, and stress management into PE lessons
  • Regularly update parents on their child's progress and addressing any concerns
  • Work with other teachers to integrate physical activity into the overall school curriculum
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS and hold and/or be eligible to receive a current TN teaching license in appropriate subject area.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Hold the belief that all students can learn at high academic levels.
  • Uses digital content, technology integration, and project-based learning in a highly efficient manner.
  • Have the ability to work in an extended day environment.
  • Strong knowledge of various sports, exercise techniques, and physical fitness principles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage students and provide effective feedback
  • Ability to adapt lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to plan and execute effective lessons
  • Physical fitness to demonstrate exercises and participate in activities with students
  • Leadership qualities to motivate and inspire students
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers, office productivity software, and common business computer technologies (e.g., Windows, Word, Excel, printers, copiers, and scanners).
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask to complete a wide variety of tasks and projects.
  • Attention to detail to ensure tasks are completed thoroughly and correctly.
  • Flexibility to adjust to new strategies, procedures, and tasks as the organization evolves.
  • Reliability and discretion with sensitive information.
  • Strong ethical leadership abilities.
  • Ability to function with and without close supervision.
