SUMMARY: The NOC Shift Caregiver provides compassionate, attentive care to clients during overnight hours. This role focuses on ensuring client safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the night, responding to needs as they arise, and maintaining a calm, secure environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

· Know the location and always disposition of all residents (under direct care)

· Monitor clients throughout the night to ensure safety and comfort

· Assist with nighttime personal care, including toileting, hygiene, and repositioning

· Respond promptly to call lights, alarms, or client requests

· In Emergency situations, assist residents according to the Emergency Plan of the facility

· Assists with First Aid as directed

· Administer medications as authorized and according to care plans (if applicable)

· Observe and document changes in client condition or behavior

· Provide emotional support and reassurance to clients during overnight hours

· Maintain a cooperative and cheerful attitude when relating to residents

· Perform light housekeeping related to client care (e.g., tidying rooms, laundering linens)

· Prepare light snacks or fluids as needed

· Follow all care plans, safety protocols, and infection control procedures

· Communicate effectively with day staff regarding overnight events or concerns

· Follow any written work schedules and service schedules

· Attend staff meetings and in-service training

· Read, follow and sign any care plans and post messages and/or updates during each shift

CORE COMPETENCIES:

· Reliability and alertness during overnight hours

· 4/2 rotation days (4 days on/2 days off)

· Attention to detail and safety

· Respect for client dignity and privacy

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Each employee must have a physical examination and tuberculin test performed by a physician. The tests are to be completed (with results) within seven (7) days after hire (unless regulations stipulate completion before employment). If the exams are not completed within the timeframe, the employee will be placed on suspension until they are completed.

· The Department of Social Services (DSS) licensing agency requires that fingerprint cares and an affidavit on criminal convictions be submitted for the purpose of conducting a criminal record review. The DSS will issue an approval or denial according to the criminal clearance reports. Approval must be obtained in order to retain employment.

· All employees must keep their FIRST-AID certification current

· Ability to work overnight (NOC) shifts, including weekends and holidays

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

· Strong observational and communication skills

· Compassionate, patient, and dependable demeanor

· Organizational skills—must be able to maintain order and efficiency in performing job duties, maintain constant pace

· Must be able to think and make decisions consistent with policies and procedures and licensing requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· High school diploma or equivalent, required

· Must be at least 18 years old, required

· Previous caregiving, CNA, or healthcare experience, preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· Overnight/NOC shifts (typically 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM)

· May involve extended periods of quiet monitoring with intermittent care tasks

· Must be able to handle stress well, stay calm under pressure.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing long periods of time, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling or lifting up to 50 pounds, keeping or regaining balance, making respective motions, using your hands to handle, control, or feel objects.
