About the role

The Service Truck Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems of trailers. This position performs both preventative maintenance and complex repairs to ensure equipment reliability, compliance, and safety.

What you'll do

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain trailer systems, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.
  • Perform DOT inspections and ensure compliance with all applicable safety and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Accurately document all work performed, including parts used, hours worked, and vehicle condition.
  • Operate and maintain service truck in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Communicate effectively with the Service Manager and team members regarding repair status and parts needs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in diesel, trailer, or heavy equipment repair preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in trailer or heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair complex trailer issues accurately and efficiently.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Must have or be able to obtain DOT certification.
  • Proficient with diagnostic tools, repair equipment, and standard shop practices.
  • Strong attention to detail with accurate documentation and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and work in various weather conditions.
