Barista at Canyon Vanderbilt LLC – Brooklyn, New York

Canyon Coffee is hiring full time and part time baristas for our first New York location in the Prospect Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

-Prepare and serve a variety of coffee, espresso, tea and specialty beverages according to

company standards

-Prepare and serve menu of signature/seasonal toasts & sandwiches according to company

standards

-Handle POS/register transactions efficiently, accurately and with Canyon hospitality

-Greet and interact with customers warmly and provide excellent customer service

-Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cafe and assigned stations throughout shifts

-Assist with expediting at various stations where needs arise (expo/food, bar, pastry/pos,

door/line, etc.)

-Commit to teamwork and support & aid co-workers when needs arise

-Help maintain cafe service, flow and cleanliness with running, bussing, dish, cleaning,

organizing throughout shift

-Follow DOH / safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment for team and customers

-Assist in inventory control through proper labeling, organization, FIFO and restocking

-Promote menu items and upsell products to enhance customer experience

-Be mindful/observant and have attention to detail to maintain quality of all F&B being made

and served

QUALIFICATIONS

-2+ years previous experience in food & beverage concepts, specifically busy/high-volume cafes &

coffee shops or similar. Those with consistent/thorough specialty coffee experience a

plus/prioritized

-Strong communication and interpersonal skills

-Ability to work efficiently and with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment and to

maintain/apply similar work ethic during lulls/slow periods

-Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays

-Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and beverage preparation

-Positive attitude, reliability, and a team-oriented mindset

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

-Frequent standing, walking, using stairs (team members will need to enter/exit

basement occasionally for various tasks/shifts)

-Ability to occasionally lift or use equipment to move or transport items up to 40lbs

-Ability to learn and utilize food prep and beverage equipment safely and according to

DOH and company protocols

-Frequent bending at the waist, reaching, grabbing, potential squatting, kneeling

-Moving / working indoor and outdoor (patio, deliveries, hospitality) throughout seasons

-Exposure to generally bustling/loud cafe environments, music, guest chatter, street

noises, etc.
