Job Description

Business Development Officer

Ready to turn relationships into opportunities and help small businesses access the capital they need to grow? As a Business Development Officer with CPLC Prestamos, you’ll play a key role in expanding access to financing for entrepreneurs and businesses in underserved communities. You’ll build strong relationships, identify lending opportunities, and help bring innovative loan solutions to businesses across our markets.

CPLC Prestamos is an award-winning Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and Community Development Entity that has provided small business loans and high-quality technical support services to business owners in underserved communities since 1980. CPLC Prestamos offers loan products, business consulting services, and investment opportunities in Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?

You will be responsible for driving the growth of Prestamos by developing and implementing comprehensive strategies for the origination of loan programs. Your primary focus will be on small business loans and micro-loans, private loan pools, and New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) loans within the marketplace.

You will establish and nurture a strong referral network of business bankers, commercial real estate brokers, business brokers, professional associations, accountants, attorneys, and other key stakeholders to identify and capitalize on lending opportunities.

You will also structure complex loan proposals, complete initial financial analysis, assess credit risk, and prepare comprehensive credit packages to support the lending process.

WHO YOU ARE?

You are a relationship-driven professional who understands the commercial lending landscape and knows how to identify opportunities while building trust with clients and referral partners. You are comfortable analyzing complex financial information, negotiating solutions, and developing business relationships that generate results.

In addition, ideally you are someone who demonstrates strong communication and negotiation skills, exercises sound judgment, takes ownership of your work, and can balance business development goals with the mission and values of CPLC Prestamos.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Education /Background:

Candidate should possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field, or a combination of education and 5+ years’ experience in commercial lending/analysis

  • Proven track record in business development and loan origination
  • Strong understanding of micro-loans, private loan pools, SBA 7a Community Advantage Loans
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and assess credit risk
