Overview

The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing detailed production schedules across multiple work centers to ensure timely delivery of products. This role requires close coordination with production, supply chain, inspection, purchasing, and focus factory teams to manage priorities, resolve material shortages, and optimize workflow. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.



Responsibilities

Daily Production Oversight:

    Conduct morning check-ins to follow up on high-priority jobs, including all critical work centers.
    Walk through all work centers to track critical items, verify material availability, and ensure machines and machinists are fully supported.
    Monitor machine status, tool requirements, and ensure all machines are operational.

Meeting Participation & Communication:

    Attend and support daily production huddles and Value Stream meetings
    Coordinate with focus factory managers and inspection teams to align shared resources and priorities.

Material & Shortage Management:

    Update and review supply chain shortage files and dashboards.
    Submit stockroom requests for raw material replenishment due to scrap or shortages.
    Ensure correct material is pulled daily and labeled according to priority.
    Drive 100% material availability
    Work with stockroom and inspection to expedite critical materials and ensure timely delivery to work centers.

Scheduling & Planning:

    Schedule and prioritize jobs for gateway work centers, including labeling and sequencing.
    Coordinate multi-operation parts to ensure smooth transitions between first and second ops.
    Plan and communicate night shift schedules with supervisors.
    Review and release jobs based on MRP and forecasted raw material availability.

Cross-Functional Coordination:

    Collaborate with OP buyers to expedite items and arrange drop shipments.
    Work with purchasing to identify off-loading opportunities and track PO status.

Continuous Improvement & Special Projects:

    Support the lights-out machining efforts by providing cross functional teams necessary information
    Review material usage trends and forecast deliveries to prevent stockouts.
    Ensure special jobs from focus factory planners are prioritized and routed correctly.

Administrative & Reporting Duties:

    Respond to critical emails, provide estimated completion dates (ECDs), and resolve machine shop issues.
    Maintain and review the main shortage file and plan work for the following day.
    Support cross functional teams such as ECO support, configuration management, and others as required


Qualifications
    Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
    7 years of experience in production planning or scheduling in a manufacturing environment.
    Strong understanding of MRP systems, production workflows, and material planning.
    Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., APCS/BPCS, Oracle, or similar).
    Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
    Technical background/ability to interpret blueprints.
    Planning of foundry, machining, or fabrication areas/activities is preferred.
    Experience lean manufacturing, inventory turns is preferred.
