About This Position

The Teacher Aide I is responsible for providing overall assistance to the teacher by assisting in designing and delivering instructional systems and therapeutic treatment plans for school-age children. The Teacher Aide is responsible to provide A.M. residential assistance and supervision of students during A.M. and P.M. transportation.

Job Duties/ Essential Functions

  1. Assist the Teacher with instructional planning and implementation, keeping records, setting up activities, and any other duties deemed necessary by the teacher.
  2. Support implementation of the behavior modification system and provide crisis prevention techniques within the classroom. Provide supervision whenever necessary.
  3. Fully perform restraints as necessary when ordered by a licensed professional using the current approved KidsPeace restraint methodology on youth who may weigh in excess of 250 pounds and who are verbally or physically threatening or otherwise presenting a threat to themselves or others.

Qualifications (Education, Training and Experiences)

  1. High School Diploma Required.
  2. Pursuant of an Associate/Bachelor's Degree in Education, Special Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
  3. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  4. Valid driver's license required.
  5. Ability to obtain SCM certification and CPR/First Aid certification during New Associate Orientation.
