The Specialty Alliance is seeking an experienced Vice President, Financial Operations.


Position purpose

Lead a team of finance professionals that delivers strategic and tactical financial operations support to key stakeholders for assigned area, including but not limited to, physician’s compensation, accounting, and financial planning and analysis.


Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

  • Budget & Forecast: Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting efforts to support operational planning and decision making. Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and consensus regarding budget and forecast assumptions. Identify risks and opportunities key to achieving targets.
  • Operational Efficiency: Develop strategies and tools to identify opportunities for operational improvement and cost savings initiatives both at the practice and divisional level as well as across the MSO. Effectively communicate and collaborate with key stakeholders to support the realization of opportunities. Monitor ongoing progress.
  • Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, financial policies, and internal controls.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Lead the development and delivery of meaningful and actionable financial reports and analysis curated to be relevant for each key audience’s understanding of performance, including physicians, senior management, executives, and board members.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a high performing financial operations team that effectively collaborates and supports key stakeholders. Select, mentor, performance manage, and professionally develop team members.
  • Relationship Manager: Serve as escalation point for physician and operations partners within assigned territory for finance, accounting, and physician compensation inquires and issues. Provide effective conflict resolution when escalations occur. Cultivate service centric culture amongst team.
  • M&A/ Integrations: Partner with M&A to lead analysis and assumptions for potential acquisitions within assigned territory. Ensure successful integration of finance and accounting activities for new practices. Lead income repair analysis and monitor ongoing performance versus expectations.
  • Other: Travel as needed. Other duties as assigned.


  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION: Bachelors in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field required.
    EXPERIENCE:
  • Three to five (3-5) years’ experience in a healthcare-related industry.

  • Ten to fifteen (10-15) years’ experience in a Finance or Accounting role.
  • Experience with physicians services consulting in a multi-location physician’s practice is preferred.

  • Collaborative style with the ability to communicate clearly and precisely on technical and operational issues, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, physicians, and staff) via strong communication skills
  • Excellent communication skills to distill information into a digestible presentation for senior management with recommended corrective actions
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong cross-functional relationships throughout the organization to achieve common goals
  • Able to motivate others and hold them accountable by monitoring progress/results and giving effective feedback in a timely manner
  • Solid understanding of finance and accounting
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, including an intermediate knowledge of Excel and ability to create Powerpoint presentations
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy as well as part of team


  • Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
    Work Environment: Work requires hand dexterity for office machine operation, stooping and bending to files and supplies, mobility to complete errands, or sitting for extended periods of time. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 20 pounds. Occasionally work environment may be very stressful.
    Mental/Physical Requirements: Normal office environment. May view computer screens for long periods of time. Occasional evening or weekend work.
