TITLE: Associate Vice President - Surveillance and Monitoring, Americas
DUTIES: Institutional Shareholder Services Inc. seeks Associate Vice President - Surveillance and Monitoring, Americas in New York, NY, to serve as a Subject Matter Expert on all Assets classes (Equity, Fixed Income, Digital Asset and Strategy Indices) underlying the index development, maintenance and process automation. Responsible for New York Index Surveillance and monitoring and acting as deputy for Head of Index Surveillance and Monitoring, Europe and America. Perform daily Index Monitoring and Surveillance activities and coordinate across three locations (New York, Hong Kong, Prague). Configure, calculate and disseminate any indices on all Assets classes (Equity, Fixed Income, Digital Asset and Strategy Indices) under ISS Stoxx mandates, and in particular STOXX and DAX Equity Indices. Monitor real time exchange prices used for the calculation of indices, and perform any tasks related to the Surveillance of Index Calculation and its accuracy. Intervene in the Calculation Engine and surrounding systems to overwrite the data based on latest available information (such as Corporate Actions information, Close prices correction announced by Exchanges). Supervise and monitor third party calculation agents, and track KPIs related to their activities. Oversee shares ownership research (American and European markets). Provide accurate and timely information to clients via official publications, notifications and Market alert. Work closely with Index Operations Management and Compliance department in the definition of the Operational Control Framework and any applicable Regulation updates impacting Information to be disclosed by ISS STOXX as index provider. Coordinate development with engineering for further technical development and improvement of Index Operations processes. Evaluate business concepts as well as new index concepts to provide requirements for engineering departments. Enhance and suggest new tools, specify requirements for technical development and test new applications/tools from end to end.
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Finance or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation: utilizing financial instruments to assess impact on portfolio performance including treatment of Corporate Actions in a portfolio, Fixed Income pricing (dirty vs clean); utilizing experience with BMR (EU Benchmark Regulations), MAR (EU Market Abuse Regulation), UCITS (Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferrable Securities Directive) and EU Paris-Aligned Benchmark Regulations including regarding applicable Regulations to Index providers; performing financial modeling including identifying index maintenance needs to fulfill Clients expectations and requirements including utilizing settlement index level calculation used for Listed derivatives Future and Options and its impacts on margin calls; utilizing data analysis tools to interpret large datasets and derive actionable insights including screening, collecting and organizing data related to Shares ownership; utilizing technologies including oracle, Snowflake, Google Cloud Platform, and digital tools including Python, SQL and XML; and identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential risks that could impact Index Calculation and trackability by portfolio Managers. Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policy. When not telecommuting, must report to work site. The offered salary is between $115,000 and $130,900 per year, and 40 hours per week.
