Position Title: Contracts Specialist

Description

Wage Range: $36.31 - $58.08 per hour

Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.
Job Summary
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, this role analyzes, prepares, and revises contracts in conjunction with counsel to obtain favorable terms for the organization. The contracts involve consulting services, software licensing, particularly for software as a service, subscription agreements, provider agreements, affiliation agreements, and product purchases, among other contracts. Collaborates with internal clients to negotiate and execute meaningful contracts that further the business and financial needs of the organization. This position contributes to improving and maintaining the efficiency of the Legal Department and may assist with providing strategic guidance to internal teams.
Primary Duties:
  1. Collaborates with other department personnel by assisting the General Counsel with the review, revision and negotiation of contracts consistent with applicable laws and district policies.
  2. Serves as contract liaison between internal departments, physicians, staff, general counsel, and external parties.
  3. Assesses, prioritizes, and manages contracts and other legal requests. Collaborates with outside counsel when necessary.
  4. Develops, periodically reviews, and updates standard contract templates to ensure consistency with established organizational policies, industry standards, and applicable law.
  5. Supports internal users on the use of approved templates. Trains and guides internal teams regarding Legal Department procedures, policies, and guidelines.
  6. Assists in overseeing contract lifecycle management to ensure compliance with record retention, destruction, and archiving laws, as well as District policies. Develops and maintains contract files and other appropriate contractual records. Maintains electronic contract database.
  7. Performs administrative duties, including maintaining contract project status in accordance with EvergreenHealth procedures, updating departmental contracting guidelines, and completing general word-processing tasks.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.
License, Certification, Education or Experience:
REQUIRED for the position:
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 years of in-house contracting experience in a legal department or in conjunction with a legal department
  • Experience performing contract reviews for IT, SAAS, confidentiality agreements, general product purchasing, or healthcare provider contracting.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Word, and Excel with an aptitude for quickly learning other programs
  • Excellent administrative, grammar, and proofreading skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and an ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be a proactive, self-directed professional with excellent business judgment, and the ability to take initiative
  • Must have excellent facilitation, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of discretion and professionalism and ability to work with minimal supervision
DESIRED for the position:
  • Experience with public entity contracting and government procurement processes
  • Experience with database management and legal contracting software
  • Hospital or health care experience
