The CAD Manager/Designer position reports to the Chief Operations Officer and is responsible for managing EKI’s CAD and Civil3D standards, templates, customizations, and software deployments; providing CAD and Civil3D production support, training, and mentorship for 25+ engineers; supporting engineering teams with development of Civil3D models and construction drawings for infrastructure and environmental remediation projects.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to the following:
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining EKI’s company-wide CAD and Civil3D standards, templates, workflows, customizations, and quality control procedures
- Auditing construction drawings and other project deliverables for standard CAD/Civil3D standards compliance
- Serving as the firm’s subject matter expert and advisor on CAD and Civil 3D strategy, evaluating software updates, emerging tools, and industry best practices
- Assisting with management of EKI’s Autodesk licenses and deployment of software and EKI customization updates
- Developing and delivering CAD and Civil3D trainings during staff onboarding and professional development trainings
- Providing CAD and Civil3D technical troubleshooting and workflow guidance to engineers
- Providing initial construction drawing sheet setups
- Supporting engineers with modeling of surfaces, alignments, profiles, pipe networks, drainage, and grading and development of construction drawings
- Drafting mechanical and civil details and piping and instrumentation diagrams
- Assisting with import and export of data between CAD/Civil3D and ArcGIS
- Partner with IT to align CAD systems with organizational infrastructure, maintaining compliance, reliability, streamlined workflows, and high-performing environments
- Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Associate’s degree or higher in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, computer-aided drafting, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Minimum of ten (10) years of combined experience as CAD/Civil3D manager or designer within civil or environmental engineering field required
- Must have experience in CAD and Civil3D standards and templates development and management
- Must have expert proficiency in Civil3D tools for surfaces, alignments, pipe networks, profiles, grading, and drainage analyses
- Experience providing CAD and Civil3D training strongly preferred
- Experience with water and wastewater infrastructure and environmental remediation systems strongly preferred
- Experience with BIM and Infraworks preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with high-volume workload and frequent short deadlines
- Must be able to work 10-hour days
- Must be able to work remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
- Must be able to communicate with others to exchange information
- Must be able to assess the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to travel occasionally, possibly overnight for customer meetings and site visits up to 2% of the time
