Job Description
Inspired Energy is looking for an Electrical Engineer in Newberry, FL to research, develop and test new charger products that are cost effective solutions required by customer demands. The candidate must be able to provide hands on work in the laboratory to perform Hardware and software testing as well as debugging and integration of prototype circuits with other systems as required. The successful Electrical Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
- Develop electronic circuits and control algorithms for smart battery chargers.
- Design Electrical Schematics and PCBs using Altium Designer as well as software development.
- Design, document, and validate designs.
- Conduct and participate in technical reviews.
- Perform technical customer support for current product lines.
- Write engineering requirements, test plans and specifications.
- Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships.
- Technical leadership and an ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Manage time and tasks of yours as well as others.
- Maintain a leading position in technical knowledge and continuously apply newly learned knowledge.
- Relevant knowledge for compliance of laws, regulations, or standards.
- Perform other functions or duties as assigned
Required Experience/Skills
- An Abet Accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Strong Oral and Written communication Skills.
- 1+ year(s) of hands-on design or testing experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Effective multi-tasker, able to demonstrate an ability to handle rapidly changing work assignments, schedules and priorities.
- Sufficient mathematical ability and a logical approach to design problems in order to identify solutions.
- Ability to solder electronic components.
- Experience with a programming language such as C, C++, or ASM.
- Experience using electrical test equipment. Ex: multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply, or active load.
- Experience coding for serial/digital communications protocols (I2C, SMBus, SPI, etc.)
- Experience troubleshooting/debugging hardware+software designs for large scale manufacturing
Preferred Experience/Skills
- Familiarity with PCB fabrication and PCB design software (Altium, Cadence, OrCAD, Eagle)
- Knowledge and understanding of rechargeable batteries (Li-Ion, NiMH, etc.)
- Experience designing and testing DC power circuits (Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost)
- Experience with project management/time management skills
- Experience maintaining and updating a hardware codebase
- Experience tracking/updating a database of electrical components necessary for designs (BoM Creation)
- Knowledge/experience with SMBus protocol for smart battery electronics
- Experience designing for automated test equipment and validating products in production
