Communications Intern

The Communications Intern supports the school’s communications, marketing, media relations, and outreach efforts. This position assists with content creation, digital storytelling, project coordination, and administrative support to help amplify the school’s mission, programs, and community impact.

Essential Functions
    Assist in collecting quotes and testimonials from partners, supporters, volunteers, and students in various media formatsAssist in documenting school activities and events through photography and videoAssist in the creation of social media content, including student stories, classroom activities, event highlights, and visual storytellingSupport the planning and execution of interactive social media campaigns that celebrate student creativity using existing photo and visual assetsAssist in developing content for newsletters and other communications materialsSupport web content creation, including updating the website calendar and ensuring content remains fresh, accurate, and relevantAssist with project coordination by organizing digital content folders, checklists, and visual planners to support ongoing communications and marketing campaignsTrack and analyze social media engagement metrics across platforms, compiling basic reports and sharing insights to support continuous improvement
Secondary Functions and Responsibilities
    Maintain and update email contact lists, including adding new contactsMaintain and update media listsAssist with graphic design projects, as neededMaintain, categorize, and organize the school’s photo archive to ensure easy access and long-term usabilitySupport content management by keeping shared folders, checklists, and visual assets well-organized and up to dateAssist with technical and administrative tasks related to digital asset management, campaign tracking, and reportingPerform other duties as assigned
Required EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredCurrent undergraduate or graduate student studying English, Communications, Journalism, Media, Digital Design or Marketing preferredRequired Core Competencies
    Strong written and verbal English communication skillsAbility to speak in a foreign language is preferred (Spanish/Amharic/French)Ability to work collaboratively as a team player and function effectively in a fast-paced environmentProficiency with Windows and Microsoft Applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as Canva and the Adobe suiteKnowledge of general office practices, including coordinating routine requests across teams, maintaining organized records, supporting data cleanup efforts, and following standard administrative procedures and techniques.Strong attention to detail, organization, spelling, grammar, and basic math skills appropriate to the level of the positionAbility to interact with populations of diverse cultural, social and economic backgrounds. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels, and to hear and understand speech on the telephone. Ability to speak clearly in audible tones so that others may understand. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision.


Schedule:

Monday 10:00 am -2:00 pm

Tuesday: 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Wednesday: 10:00 am -3:00 pm

Thursday: 10:00 am-2:00 pm

Friday: 10:00am-2:00pm

Saturday: Must be Flexible


Salary:

$23.00 to $25.00 per hour, depending on experience.
