Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC) is a non-profit organization and one of the largest Hispanic Community Development Corporations in the United States. The organization began with a group of student and community activists in 1967, and was incorporated and received non-profit status in 1969. CPLC is committed to empowering individuals through health & human services, housing, education, and economic development.

This will be a hybrid position (2 days remote/3 days in office) after completion of the initial 3 month training period.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?

  • You will be responsible for the recording of client invoices and accounting for the funds paid to the organization.
  • You will perform a variety of accounting and transactional posting duties according to established policies and procedures.
  • You will be required to develop and maintain an open line of communication with accounting/finance team member, internal business partners throughout the organization and clients.
  • You will get to work with five different accounting software, which include, Blackbaud, Yardi, Quickbooks, Appfolio, and Accubuild to generate client invoices, client monthly statements, and account receivable aging reports.

  • You are an effective communicator both verbally and in writing
  • Effective organizational, stress and time management skills
  • You demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
  • You work well independently or as a team member who can work with a diverse group of people
  • You possess a high degree of customer service and negotiating skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • High School Diploma or GED; Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred
  • 1-3 years accounts receivable experience
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
  • General math skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Excel, including the ability to operate computerized accounting and spreadsheet programs
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent data entry skills
