About this position

This position is responsible for managing interdepartmental projects within the organization’s Project Management office. This role focuses on organization-wide initiatives, strategic alignment, and cross-functional project success.

The project manager will aid in positioning our organization as a true leader in supporting families and preparing children for life success.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing program and/or department projects and those assigned by management;
  • Analyzing all aspects of projects from concept to completion;
  • Prioritizing department projects according to areas of greatest need and/or impact;
  • Organizing trainings upon completion of projects as necessary;
  • Forming teams to assist with projects as necessary;
  • Managing documentation associated with projects, including narratives, statistics and other pertinent data;
  • Working with other departments, agencies, or funding sources as needed;
  • Providing regular progress reports to management;
  • Accurately complete, archive, and update required documentation on a timely basis according to department and agency policies and procedures;
  • Managing department office duties and supporting the work of program or department management;
  • Assisting the program and/or department managers as needed;
  • Attending training as required;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, human services, information systems/computer science or other applicable field (verifiable work experience may be substituted for education);
  • Two years of project or office management experience in a professional capacity;
  • Ability to communicate in written and verbal English correctly and effectively;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams);
  • Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Planner, Trello, Asana, etc.;
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze information and solve problems using sound, inclusive reasoning and judgment;
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills to small, large and diverse groups, including ability to communicate project details to various audiences;
  • Experience and ability to effectively work with, be respectful of, and sensitive to persons from various cultures, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds;
  • Ability to independently identify problems, needs and opportunities for improvements, develop solutions, and implement plans/solutions;
  • Ability to engage and be comfortable with all levels of management;
  • Ability to fulfill job duties while meeting the highest ethical standards;
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects;
  • Strong attention to detail and effective organizational skills;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment;
  • California driver’s license, available use of an automobile, and automobile liability insurance;
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification (preferred);
  • Experience with child care, education or human services organizations (preferred);
  • Command of Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese (preferred).

Job specifications

  • Reports to the senior project manager;
  • Exempt, full-time, year-round position;
  • Eight-hour workday, four-day workweek;
  • Hybrid work schedule with approval by management;
  • Organization-wide winter break;
  • Limited evening or weekend work may be required;
  • Employment, responsibilities, compensation and other factors may be affected by changes in governmental regulations, the organization’s contracts, or at the organization’s discretion.

Salary

  • $88,000 - $117,000 per year (candidates should anticipate receiving an offer within the first quartile of the salary range).
