Job Overview: The Director of Information Technology leads the strategy, management, and oversight of all technology systems at New York City Center, ensuring high-quality, secure, and effective operations across the organization. This role is responsible for maintaining an integrated technology ecosystem that supports business needs, enhances the patron experience, and advances City Center’s mission.

The Director supervises a three-person IT team responsible for infrastructure, network administration, help desk support, business applications management, reporting, and analytics. The department supports and enhances City Center’s core technology platforms, including the website, CRM (Tessitura), venue management software (Diese), the finance system (Financial Edge), and related systems and tools used by staff, artists, and patrons.

This position ensures technology systems are reliable, cost-effective, well-integrated, and optimized for performance, availability, and data accuracy. The Director also promotes strong project management practices across IT and stakeholder groups, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement, while upholding City Center’s mission and commitment to being an anti-racist organization.

Scheduling: Monday through Friday with some evening and weekends for performances as needed. This position must be available for after-hours support when necessary. As scheduling allows, City Center offers a hybrid work schedule for this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Governance

  • Set IT strategy and roadmaps; advise leadership on technology priorities, risk, and investment.

People Leadership & Organizational Enablement

  • Lead and develop the IT team, setting clear roles, expectations, and growth plans.

Enterprise IT Operations & Systems

  • Direct enterprise IT operations and core systems (including CRM/Tessitura) to ensure reliability, security, standards, and continuous improvement.

Cybersecurity, Risk & Compliance

  • Lead cybersecurity, privacy, compliance, and resiliency (BC/DR), including risk management and incident response.

Website Monitoring & Performance

  • Ensure website availability, performance, and security through proactive monitoring and remediation.

Large-Scale Projects & Project Management

  • Lead large-scale IT initiatives end-to-end, establishing project standards and change management to deliver on scope, timeline, and budget.

Stakeholder Partnership & Business Alignment

  • Partner with stakeholders to align technology, workflows, and solutions with organizational goals.

IT Service Management & User Support

  • Provide high-quality IT services and support, with consistent service standards and delivery.

Vendor, Budget & Financial Management

  • Manage IT budgets, procurement, vendors, and investment analysis (ROI/TCO) to ensure sustainable value.

Innovation, Accessibility & Mission Alignment

  • Drive mission-aligned innovation by evaluating emerging tech and championing accessible, secure, and equitable solutions.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible Information Technology experience, including supervising technical staff, administering a CRM, finance system, or database system, preferably systems supporting ticketing and/or fundraising or other constituent relationships.
  • Familiarity with administering large-scale business systems and IT infrastructure.
  • Experience with Tessitura CRM is a plus.
  • Proven experience in transformational projects and process improvement.
  • Strong desire of achieving operations excellency and efficiency through technology-oriented, process-oriented, data-driven, and systematic solutions.
  • Experience in administering and using Office 365, Microsoft Teams and Office Apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), PowerBI, SharePoint or other user productivity technologies.
  • Direct experience with customer/constituent relationship management systems, e.g. Tessitura, Salesforce, Ticketmaster, CRM systems.
  • Experience with implementation, configuration, maintenance, and support of large- scale CRM/ERP solutions would be an asset.
  • Experience with departmental budget creation, management of operating costs and financial reporting.

To be successful in this role, you will be expected to demonstrate:

  • Work with business stakeholders to clearly articulate and document business requirements and process flows, facilitate future state design workshops, contribute to fit gap analysis, develop various functional deliverables and engage stakeholders in approval and prioritization.
  • Be a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, peers, and multiple vendors and the project team, to gain alignment and bridge the gap between business priorities, technical limitations and people/process.
  • Cultivate key relationships with project team, vendors and stakeholders across different business units, often with competing priorities.
  • Contribute to various change management and communications deliverables.
  • Maintain and report challenges, risks, issues, decisions and action items including follow up with teams to ensure timely reply and/or action.
  • Proven ability to mentor project team members while still contributing to major projects.
