Position Summary

The Project Manager/Estimator supports the General Manager with estimating and project coordination. This individual will assist our office and field teams with projects to ensure Big Horn’s standard of excellence is being met.


This is an entry-level position designed to develop an individual into a larger role. Big Horn believes in the philosophy of promoting from within whenever possible.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesEstimating Support
  • Perform job walks to obtain relevant information in order to accurately estimate costs.
  • Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates (labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment).
  • Solicit and compare vendor and subcontractor quotes.
  • Maintain pricing databases and historical cost records.
  • Prepare bid packages and support proposal assembly.
  • Track bid deadlines and submission requirements.
Project Coordination
  • Assist in project setup (job folders, cost codes, documentation).
  • Coordinate submittals, RFIs, change orders, and closeout documentation.
  • Monitor job progress and support budget tracking.
  • Assist with scheduling coordination between field teams and subcontractors.
  • Support procurement and material ordering.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical project records.
Administrative & Communication
  • Serve as a liaison between estimating, field teams, vendors, and management.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and internal project handoff meetings.
  • Prepare meeting notes and distribute action items.
  • Assist with compliance documentation and permit tracking.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or coursework in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in construction, HVAC, estimating, or project coordination preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required).
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications (or willingness to learn).


Licenses & Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or equivalent a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical components, and construction processes.
  • Boiler, water heater, and hydronic controls preferred.
  • Familiarity with ServiceTitan preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods
  • Occasional lifting of office materials or drawings up to 50 pounds
  • Occasional site visits may require walking, climbing, or navigating construction environments
Work Environment
  • Office-based with occasional visits to job sites
  • Exposure to typical office equipment, computers, and communication devices
  • Moderate noise levels typical of office or construction environments
Schedule
  • Typically Monday through Friday
