SUMMARY:
The Shade Room is seeking a dynamic and passionate Intern to join our media company. This internship offers a comprehensive introduction to the fast-paced world of media and entertainment, providing hands-on experience in various facets of the industry. As an intern, you will support the TSR TEENS team. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker, detail-oriented, and eager to learn about media creation and distribution.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor social media platforms and online communities to identify stories, trends, and emerging conversations relevant to Gen Z audiences.
Assist in writing articles and other forms of written content. - Draft and edit concise, accurate copy for Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms in alignment with the brand voice.
- Aid in conducting research to support content development and fact-checking.
- Help produce multimedia content, including short-form video, graphics, photo selections, and captions.
- Assist with ensuring all content adheres to the company's style guide and editorial standards.
- Assist with managing and organizing social calendars.
- Assist with managing multiple writing projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Assist in promoting content through various platforms to increase readership.
- Other duties as assigned.
Summer 2026 TSR Internship Program:
- The Summer 2026 internship dates are June 8, 2026 to July 31, 2026.

- To be considered for this internship, applicants must be at least 18 years old and live in Los Angeles, California.
- The program welcomes candidates who are presently enrolled in a college or university, who have recently graduated, or who are pursuing new career paths, including those who are not currently enrolled in any academic program.
- Internships are paid and do not require course credit. If you would like course credit in addition to pay, we will be happy to assist with any necessary documentation.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong interest in social media, pop culture, and news that centers the Black Gen Z audiences.
- Strong writing skills — clear, concise, factual AP-style writing.
Interest in learning SEO. - Basic understanding of Instagram, TikTok, X, and Threads; and familiarity with
current digital trends. - Creative thinker with fresh ideas for storytelling, engagement, and content formats.
- The ability to adapt to the TSR Teens witty, conversational, and culturally aware tone.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn TSR Teens content creation and editorial process.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with multiple team members.
- Ability to take direction, receive feedback, and grow.
- Interest in experimenting with new content and writing styles, tools, and formats.
- Organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and adaptability.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work 24 hours per week.
- Although The Shade Room is a fully remote company, interns are required to work from Los Angeles, California. All housing arrangements and related expenses are the responsibility of the intern; The Shade Room does not provide or reimburse housing accommodations.
- Legal right to work in the US.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Journalism, Business Marketing, Communication, English or related. Open to applicants pursuing new career paths, including those who are not currently enrolled in any
academic program. - Prior experience with student publications, newsrooms, campus media, or social media content creation is a
bonus. - Familiarity with tools such as WordPress, Canva, CapCut, or similar is helpful but not required.
- Must have a working laptop and cellphone with internet connection.
Compensation
Hourly rate: $18.50
