About This Position

Job Summary: Performs all access management duties for patients referred to outpatient rehab services in the Hospital Outpatient Department (HOD) setting and CaroMont Medical Group (CMG) setting. Serves as liaison between patients, providers, and third party payors. Responsible for interviewing patients for insurance information, insurance verification, and registration. Makes certain payment is collected or account is referred for resolution. Performs duties for chart preparation and account reconciliation. Performs necessary tasks to comply with Medicare, Medicaid, other third party payors and corporate compliance guidelines. Coordinates and oversees all scheduling functions for patients referred to outpatient rehab services in the HOD and CMG settings. Organizes and maintains active, accurate, and operational schedules for clinics. Ensures accuracy and updates the patient’s insurance and demographic information, schedules services using the established guidelines and ensures sufficient information is distributed to the patients and all necessary parties. Responsible for keeping meticulous records related to appointments, scheduling and rescheduling. Provides excellent customer service both in-person and over the phone and schedules appointments independently. Obtains referral information and prior authorizations as needed. Provides front office support duties including but not limited to greeting and welcoming patients, answering phones, collecting copayments, scheduling appointments, updating missing patient demographics, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required with at least 2 years of work experience in a related clerical field. Knowledge of insurance, collections, registration, scheduling and other business related procedures preferred. Demonstrates strong customer service skills both in person and over the phone. Special Skills/Abilities: Excellent organizational skills, communication skills and decision making skills, ability to multi-task, demonstrates competency with basic computer usage, ability to deal tactfully with customers.
