About the Role
Spring Care Minor Emergency is seeking a dedicated and bilingual Medical Assistant to join our team. The Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers by ensuring the smooth operation of clinical and administrative tasks within our facility. This position involves direct patient interaction, including preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, and assisting with medical procedures such as phlebotomy. The Medical Assistant is also responsible for managing medical instruments, ensuring proper sterilization to maintain a safe and hygienic environment, answering phones, and supporting front desk operations. Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are required to effectively serve our diverse patient population. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant contributes to delivering high-quality patient care and enhancing the overall efficiency of our healthcare team.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (required – must be able to communicate fluently with patients in both languages).
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
• Proven experience in taking vital signs and specimen processing.
• Strong knowledge of medical instruments and sterilization procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage front desk and phone duties in a professional, patient-facing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working alongside Nurse Practitioners or in a similar clinical setting.
• Certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Additional training in patient education and clinical documentation.
• Experience with medical scheduling software or practice management systems.
Responsibilities
• Greet patients at the front desk, check them in, verify insurance information, and collect co-pays as needed.
• Answer incoming phone calls promptly and professionally, schedule appointments, and respond to patient inquiries.
• Communicate with patients in both English and Spanish to ensure clear understanding of procedures, instructions, and next steps.
