About the Role:
The Truck Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of commercial diesel trucks by performing thorough inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on various mechanical systems. This position requires expertise in maintaining and repairing braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, axles, and diesel engines to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifespan. The mechanic will work closely with fleet managers and drivers to identify mechanical issues and implement effective solutions promptly. Maintaining a strong safety record is paramount, as the role directly impacts the safe operation of heavy-duty vehicles on the road. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a truck mechanic or diesel mechanic with a focus on heavy-duty vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, and axles.
- Ability to safely lift and carry heavy weights regularly.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean safety record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification from a recognized diesel mechanic or automotive technician program.
- Experience working with computerized diagnostic tools and software.
- Familiarity with federal and state transportation safety regulations.
- Previous experience in a fleet maintenance environment.
- Additional training in advanced diesel engine repair or hybrid diesel technology.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on diesel trucks, including brake systems, drive trains, suspensions, and axles.
- Diagnose mechanical problems using specialized tools and equipment, and execute necessary repairs efficiently.
- Inspect vehicles to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards, documenting all maintenance and repairs.
- Lift and carry heavy parts and equipment safely while adhering to workplace safety protocols.
